Wendy & Rich 0:00
Hey, everyone is Rich Bennett. Can you believe it? The show is turning 10 this year. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who've tuned in, shared a episode, or even joined the conversation over the years. You're the reason that this podcast has grown into what it is today. Together, we've shared laughs, tears, and moments that truly matter. So I want to thank you for being part of this journey. Let's make the next 10 years even better. Coming to you from the Freedom Federal Credit Union Studios Harford County Living Presence conversations with Rich Bennett.

No no no no it's like, it is

Taryn Womack 1:00
really tired. So if I just ramble or forget my words, that's going to probably happen a lot today.

Kayla Deickman 1:06
I

Rich Bennett 1:06
you.

Kayla Deickman 1:06
got

Rich Bennett 1:06
Night last night?

Taryn Womack 1:07
I just have sugar falling asleep.

Rich Bennett 1:10
You knew they make stuff for that?

Taryn Womack 1:11
I know I take pills.

Rich Bennett 1:13
Oh.

Kayla Deickman 1:14
That's

Taryn Womack 1:14
all you're about.

Hey

Kayla Deickman 1:19
you know my household.

Rich Bennett 1:20
No. Okay. Look. Come on. What

Taryn Womack 1:23
was I talk?

Kayla Deickman 1:27
We're supposed to be doing something here. So, Terran, how are you

Rich Bennett 1:31
I didn't

Kayla Deickman 1:31
today?

Rich Bennett 1:31
even start yet. You know, and here you are. To it and everything. You know, I

Kayla Deickman 1:38
told you this was a

Taryn Womack 1:38
bad idea because she doesn't

Kayla Deickman 1:40
know.

Taryn Womack 1:41
So, did you get when you have two best friends on the podcast?

Rich Bennett 1:44
Now I am worried about that when

Taryn Womack 1:45
brings...

Rich Bennett 1:45
she

Kayla Deickman 1:47
Good.

My children are like, when I say that they're vicious, they tear into us. They have no problems coming to me and being like, mom, what you wear in the day? That ain't it. And then they'll go to her and they're just an attitude film.

Rich Bennett 2:05
When I had Sherry Bailey on.

Kayla Deickman 2:07
Uh-huh. I love

Rich Bennett 2:08
her. Her one daughter. I'm going to forget her name.

Kayla Deickman 2:11
Laila. Yep.

Rich Bennett 2:13
And I set up a microphone for Laila.

Kayla Deickman 2:15
Or Lana.

Taryn Womack 2:16
One

Rich Bennett 2:17
of them. And yeah. Oh, yeah.

Taryn Womack 2:20
She

Rich Bennett 2:20
was ready to take that episode over.

Taryn Womack 2:22
She's,

Kayla Deickman 2:23
they're

Rich Bennett 2:23
smart.

Kayla Deickman 2:23
great.

Rich Bennett 2:24
She's a wit. She's

Kayla Deickman 2:24
She's

Rich Bennett 2:25
good.

Kayla Deickman 2:25
so I'm doing, um, illustration work for them right

Rich Bennett 2:29
now.

Kayla Deickman 2:29
And

Rich Bennett 2:30
Ziggabee.

Kayla Deickman 2:30
uh... Yeah. Hey, it's my first paid

Taryn Womack 2:33
children's

Kayla Deickman 2:34
mission in a while.

Rich Bennett 2:35
You're just sad. Busy as shit.

Kayla Deickman 2:40
The five of me actually

Rich Bennett 2:41
Did you

Taryn Womack 2:41
I

Rich Bennett 2:41
hear

Kayla Deickman 2:41
work?

Rich Bennett 2:41
what... say I'm proud of you. That means you cannot put on

Taryn Womack 2:44
I

Rich Bennett 2:44
me.

Kayla Deickman 2:46
didn't hear it. I didn't hear

Taryn Womack 2:47
But

Kayla Deickman 2:47
anything.

Taryn Womack 2:47
I'll say I'm proud

Kayla Deickman 2:49
of her older.

Rich Bennett 2:49
Does she pick on you?

Taryn Womack 2:51
And I pick on her.

Kayla Deickman 2:52
It's part of it's part of being friends for as long as we have been.

Taryn Womack 2:56
thought if I didn't love

Rich Bennett 2:57
I

Taryn Womack 2:57
her, if I didn't bullie her, that means I didn't love her.

Rich Bennett 3:00
So I got a bullie?

Kayla Deickman 3:02
I wouldn't say that. But

Rich Bennett 3:03
Okay.

Kayla Deickman 3:05
when it's when we... So when I bull you, that's how I show my affection.

Rich Bennett 3:13
And where did the chili pepper dress?

Kayla Deickman 3:15
Uh-huh. I did that specifically for your sake.

Rich Bennett 3:18
I gotta admit, I can't recall the last time a lady wore a dress for me.

Kayla Deickman 3:26
Well... I wore a dress for your rich.

Rich Bennett 3:31
Damn.

Damn.

Taryn Womack 3:36
I

Kayla Deickman 3:36
wore dresses for you too.

Taryn Womack 3:41
No,

Kayla Deickman 3:44
because you're the one who has the dress that has the tentacles on it, don't you?

Rich Bennett 3:47
The

Taryn Womack 3:48
skirt.

Kayla Deickman 3:49
Who am I thinking of? Someone I know has a skirt that comes down that has these tentacles on the bottom that are so cute.

Taryn Womack 3:55
Isn't me?

Kayla Deickman 3:58
I need to find out who that is so I can buy the same skirt. Because I thought it was so cute.

Rich Bennett 4:03
Why not just get real tentacles and make a skirt?

Kayla Deickman 4:08
I could. So

Taryn Womack 4:10
like she's talented enough to like sew something like that.

Rich Bennett 4:12
Oh yeah.

Kayla Deickman 4:13
I just don't want to.

Rich Bennett 4:14
Okay.

Kayla Deickman 4:15
I'm lazy.

Rich Bennett 4:16
All right, those of you listening may recognize that one voice, because she's co-hosted before and has been probably about 20 years,

Taryn Womack 4:26
been on

Rich Bennett 4:27
last time,

20 months.

Kayla Deickman 4:31
It's been a year.

Rich Bennett 4:32
Has it been a year

Kayla Deickman 4:34
Yeah,

Rich Bennett 4:34
already?

Kayla Deickman 4:34
it's been about a year.

Rich Bennett 4:35
Really?

Kayla Deickman 4:37
I've been busy.

Rich Bennett 4:39
So you've been avoiding

Taryn Womack 4:40
my hands

Rich Bennett 4:41
year?

Taryn Womack 4:41
for a

Kayla Deickman 4:42
Um, I saw you a couple of weeks ago at the pet festival.

I gave you

Taryn Womack 4:50
a...

Rich Bennett 4:51
okay, that can't Alright, so yes, I have Kayla Dicman on Co-host

Taryn Womack 4:56
see.

Rich Bennett 4:56
and our guest today is somebody that I didn't realize her and Kayla were best friends.

Hey, make sure I get this

Taryn Womack 5:14
right, come

Rich Bennett 5:15
monster,

Kayla Deickman 5:19
right

Rich Bennett 5:19
heart, author, Is

Taryn Womack 5:20
now...

Rich Bennett 5:20
that, that's not a

Kayla Deickman 5:21
genre?

Taryn Womack 5:22
Sure. Sure. Uh, right now just a horror author, but I write many, many things.

Rich Bennett 5:26
Alright, so horror, horror, before them.

Kayla Deickman 5:29
Horror author,

Rich Bennett 5:30
Yeah,

Kayla Deickman 5:30
right?

Rich Bennett 5:30
that what you said.

Kayla Deickman 5:31
Mm-hmm.

Rich Bennett 5:32
But you're also working on romance?

Taryn Womack 5:34
Yes.

Rich Bennett 5:35
But not monster

Taryn Womack 5:37
romance? No.

Rich Bennett 5:38
Not, not a rhodica. Alright, so the romance you're

Taryn Womack 5:42
working on, what is going on with

Rich Bennett 5:44
Chely,

Taryn Womack 5:44
Chely,

Rich Bennett 5:45
Chely peppers get real.

Taryn Womack 5:49
Um I mean it really depends on who reads the purse, probably around the

Kayla Deickman 5:54
it. Well

Taryn Womack 5:54
way out

Kayla Deickman 5:55
considering

Taryn Womack 5:55
of

Kayla Deickman 5:55
I read most of the stuff that you send me I'd say about a four

Rich Bennett 5:58
half.

Kayla Deickman 5:58
four and a

Rich Bennett 5:59
Really? I tied her in with Christie what rights? Christie says she's is three.

Kayla Deickman 6:06
Yeah, I agree with that statement.

Taryn Womack 6:08
Wait a minute, hold on there. Before we get it, please.

Rich Bennett 6:14
I don't believe I'm going to ask this.

Kayla Deickman 6:17
He's going to ask something. He's going to later on regret.

Rich Bennett 6:19
Yeah, probably. Okay, so why the four or five scale? What makes it four or five?

Taryn Womack 6:25
Um, like the

Rich Bennett 6:27
difference between yours

Taryn Womack 6:28
and Christie. Um I am.

Kayla Deickman 6:31
I

Taryn Womack 6:32
honestly don't.

Kayla Deickman 6:32
I can

Taryn Womack 6:33
count. Um,

Kayla Deickman 6:35
space, I would say.

Taryn Womack 6:36
Pacing I also incorporate.

Rich Bennett 6:40
Do you do what?

Taryn Womack 6:46
Talk.

Kayla Deickman 6:48
Yeah.

Taryn Womack 6:49
Okay.

Kayla Deickman 6:51
Don't give me that look red.

Rich Bennett 6:52
No, I'm giving you that look as I

Taryn Womack 6:53
clue.

Rich Bennett 6:53
don't have a

Taryn Womack 6:55
It's more intense. That's like the very basic

Rich Bennett 6:59
on the romance part

Taryn Womack 7:01
of the rhodica part

Rich Bennett 7:03
of the

Kayla Deickman 7:04
of the sex rich of the sex.

Rich Bennett 7:08
I know what that is. Okay. I mean,

Taryn Womack 7:13
they

Kayla Deickman 7:15
know

Rich Bennett 7:15
these are published yet. Why?

Taryn Womack 7:17
Because writings. I'm current and I have a job.

Rich Bennett 7:24
All right,

Taryn Womack 7:24
from working from writing.

Rich Bennett 7:26
So with those books.

Taryn Womack 7:29
Mm

Rich Bennett 7:29
hmm. Do you edit them yourself or do you have a editor?

Taryn Womack 7:31
Um, I'll do the first round of editing myself. And then I'll send it. I'll. Once I get to that, I'll send it to someone to like beta read it and let me know what they think of it. Do another round of editing. Then I'll send it to someone else to do editing for things that I didn't catch myself. And then,

Kayla Deickman 7:47
so what round of reading would you consider me if I give it all if you write it?

Taryn Womack 7:51
um, that. You're just the friend that

Kayla Deickman 7:53
Okay,

Taryn Womack 7:53
reads stuff

Kayla Deickman 7:54
I'll take

Taryn Womack 7:54
and tells me like if you like it or not, because I know that it's stuff that you like reading.

Kayla Deickman 7:59
Hey, don't you want?

Rich Bennett 8:03
What?

Kayla Deickman 8:03
I'll also say that Tara does do a good job editing, because she edits my books for me.

Rich Bennett 8:09
Oh, really? Uh, really? All right. Well, when the good back to people reading yours, does anybody in your family read yours? Or do you not want them to? Being four or five jilly peppers,

Taryn Womack 8:21
okay. Um, I would like my mom

Rich Bennett 8:25
I mean,

Taryn Womack 8:25
will sometimes like read some of my stuff because her and I have like a really good relationship and she's not the judgmental type.

Rich Bennett 8:32
Okay.

Taryn Womack 8:33
Um, she likes that kind of stuff too. So it's not so she has an understanding of the genre to begin with.

Rich Bennett 8:40
okay.

Taryn Womack 8:42
But yeah, that's kind of, it, um, mostly it's just my friends that I send it to. All

Rich Bennett 8:47
I

Taryn Womack 8:47
right,

Rich Bennett 8:48
said

Taryn Womack 8:48
you're right, you're the hard

Rich Bennett 8:49
book you released. Now, were you writing that before you were writing the romance?

Taryn Womack 8:53
Yes.

Rich Bennett 8:54
Why did you switch from that to a

Taryn Womack 8:56
room? It's the genre I'm in at the time. I'm into at the time. I'm like, I was reading a lot of horror at this time. So I wrote horror and now I'm reading a lot of like romance, romanticy stuff.

Rich Bennett 9:06
All right. So tell it. So throw it down a

Taryn Womack 9:09
dark road, down a dark road, a collection of short horror stories.

Rich Bennett 9:12
Uh oh, it's different stories. Okay. So how

Taryn Womack 9:16
do

Rich Bennett 9:16
we when you start to write new stories?

Taryn Womack 9:18
Um, I published it in 2023. I started writing it in 2022.

Rich Bennett 9:24
It's only a year.

Taryn Womack 9:25
It

Kayla Deickman 9:25
took you like what eight months.

Taryn Womack 9:27
Yeah, pretty much

Rich Bennett 9:27
really.

Taryn Womack 9:28
I started writing it in October, I think of 2022. And I published it in July of 2023 because primarily I was like kind of rushing through it, not rushing through it. plushing through it,

Rich Bennett 9:44
Right.

Taryn Womack 9:45
because uh, there was a uh, horror convention that I was going to be a part of, that I wanted to actually have a book for, yeah pretty much.

'bout perr?

Rich Bennett 10:09
'in it'?

Kayla Deickman 10:09
'hmm,

Rich Bennett 10:10
hmmm' 'you could've been the monster hunter'

Kayla Deickman 10:13
'hmm,

Rich Bennett 10:13
'you could've been the Kraken's girlfriend'.

Taryn Womack 10:15
hmmm'.

Rich Bennett 10:15
'good' 'EST

Kayla Deickman 10:17
'okay, so you're going to embarrass me today, Ecksti

Taryn Womack 10:20
yo,

Kayla Deickman 10:20
how I

Taryn Womack 10:20
I think'

Kayla Deickman 10:21
think the tables have turned' 'of

Taryn Womack 10:23
me here, so I'm going to have some bears' 'you

Kayla Deickman 10:25
said'

Taryn Womack 10:25
probably

Kayla Deickman 10:26
'yeah,

Taryn Womack 10:27
' uhm,

Kayla Deickman 10:27
well'

Taryn Womack 10:28
I don't know, I like all the stories in here' 'uh, I probably like the mines a lot and the first' 'yeah, the mines'

Rich Bennett 10:38
'what's the mines?

Taryn Womack 10:39
'so the mines, so all of these stories are very short stories, they are kind of told as if you were telling them, 'I can't fire' 'I

Rich Bennett 10:48
I

Taryn Womack 10:48
love those 'so there's not really a ton of plot,

Rich Bennett 10:52
love

Taryn Womack 10:52
there's not

Rich Bennett 10:52
it' 'right'

Taryn Womack 10:53
really a lot of arcing stuff like that' 'but basically the mines is told from the perspective of a man who works at the mines overnight'

Rich Bennett 11:01
'oh that kind of

Taryn Womack 11:02
'yes'

Rich Bennett 11:02
mines' 'oh okay, I thought you meant like mines in your head' 'okay,

Taryn Womack 11:06
okay' 'oh it's scary, but

Rich Bennett 11:08
you

Taryn Womack 11:08
yeah' 'exactly'

Rich Bennett 11:08
know'

Taryn Womack 11:09
'oh, he

Kayla Deickman 11:11
'mmm

Taryn Womack 11:13
works there overnight and his job is basically making sure nobody goes into the mines and does stupid stuff' 'and he ends up seeing something on the cameras that shouldn't be there and so he goes down to check it out and doesn't always really when to end well for those people does it' 'all right so we're gonna do this'

Rich Bennett 11:35
'start it right, did you ever go ghost honey or anything like

Taryn Womack 11:40
that?' 'I liked to go to Gettysburg a lot'

Rich Bennett 11:41
'yes,

Taryn Womack 11:43
'I'm a huge ghost honey

Rich Bennett 11:46
yeah

Taryn Womack 11:46
fan, I

Rich Bennett 11:47
okay'

Taryn Womack 11:47
love ghost hunters, I like ghost adventures just because I think it's funny' 'but ghosts hunters, all those fun shows'

Rich Bennett 11:55
'well tabs guys'

Taryn Womack 11:56
'yeah, I love that show' 'and me and my dad were both into that kind of thing so like when we go to places that are like supposedly haunted' 'like he and I will go around like oh did you hear that or like did you like do you want to like see if we can like' 'talk to anything so like we'll go to Gettysburg, we'll do the ghost tours' 'we went to um' 'oh what's the prison over in San Francisco?'

Rich Bennett 12:22
'alcatraz'

Taryn Womack 12:23
'alcatraz'

Rich Bennett 12:23
'get out of here' 'we

Taryn Womack 12:25
went to Alcatraz, that was really fun

Rich Bennett 12:26
'I

Taryn Womack 12:26
and

Rich Bennett 12:27
didn't even

Taryn Womack 12:27
interesting'

Rich Bennett 12:27
know they had,

Taryn Womack 12:28
that'

Rich Bennett 12:28
it's for

Taryn Womack 12:28
'they

Kayla Deickman 12:29
do, I went there when I was like, I think it was only like eight' 'it's really cool'

Taryn Womack 12:33
'oh.

Rich Bennett 12:34
Nadi, do you take a voice recorder, camera and all that with you?'

Taryn Womack 12:37
'well if depending on like...' 'where it is or like

Rich Bennett 12:43
'yeah

Taryn Womack 12:43
what time it is like we went to Alcatraz unfortunately during the day so we couldn't really do a lot of like the ghost hunt 'we

Rich Bennett 12:48
right'

Taryn Womack 12:48
wanted to' 'but they do have ghost tours' 'but like when we go to Gettysburg, like I'll bring a little like recording device' 'and then they also offer like the EKG

Rich Bennett 13:01
'yeah'

Taryn Womack 13:01
little machines' 'which was really interesting' 'and actually funny enough, one of the stories in here is called the doll' 'I

Kayla Deickman 13:11
was gonna say, that was my favorite'

Taryn Womack 13:13
'it's actually very loosely based on a building in Gettysburg'

Rich Bennett 13:22
'oh I thought you were going to tell me Ann and Bill for...'

Taryn Womack 13:24
'no, but it's actually very funny because the stuff that's in my story, I did not know were actually kind of true' 'really?' 'correct so I went to Gettysburg, we go to me and my family and some friends go to Gettysburg almost every

Rich Bennett 13:44
'right'

Taryn Womack 13:44
year' 'and the first time we went we went to the Jenny Wade house'

Rich Bennett 13:50
'yes'

Taryn Womack 13:51
'and while we were there they were telling us about the orphanage that's across the street' 'and the only thing they really told us about the orphanage was that the headmistress or whatever was not really nice to the kids' 'and the kids just kind of float around and stuff like that' 'that's the only thing we knew about the orphanage'

Kayla Deickman 14:11
'and

Taryn Womack 14:13
so I was like, that sounds like a really interesting idea' 'so what I'm going to do is I'm kind of create a story around that and it's based on a dog that was there' 'they

Rich Bennett 14:27
sell dogs there too'

Taryn Womack 14:28
Uh, yes, they do. I want to get it, I want to get there in a second. Um, but, um, in the story it's like, there's a room to commemorate all the children that live there based on like their dolls or like their toys.

And, um, just all sorts of stuff happens in the book based on like how she treated the children. Well, I actually ended up going to the orphanage in Gettysburg to do the haunted tour. And I found out that, um, a lot of the stuff that I said she did do. Um,

Rich Bennett 15:18
before you even knew.

Taryn Womack 15:19
Correct. And there is a huge thing about, um, giving dolls to the children there, um, holding them there for a couple weeks to a month or so and then reselling them as haunted dolls.

Rich Bennett 15:35
Uh, really?

Taryn Womack 15:35
Uh-huh, and I was kind of freaking out because I was like, oh my god, I actually wrote some of this stuff that's really weird. Um, and I had absolutely no idea anything about it. And I told our tour guide about it and she's like, that's kind of crazy. And I was like, yeah, because I did, like I said, I didn't know anything about it and I wrote stuff that was fairly like accurate. Um, so I was, it was a little freaked out.

Rich Bennett 16:03
Well, the good thing is too of that because, I mean, like you said, you had that evil doll.

Taryn Womack 16:10
I

Rich Bennett 16:10
guess the headmistress

Taryn Womack 16:11
had.

Rich Bennett 16:12
But some of those other ones that belong to the kids could be like, I guess you could say like, good spirits.

Taryn Womack 16:19
Yeah, I mean, it really, like, depending on what your definition of like spirits and how like, um, and like the lore that you understand about

Rich Bennett 16:29
Yeah.

Taryn Womack 16:29
like spirits and stuff goes, it could be good spirits. It could be vengeful spirits, like kids can be vengeful spirits. I've

Kayla Deickman 16:35
got you vengeful spirits at home

Taryn Womack 16:37
right

Kayla Deickman 16:38
now.

Rich Bennett 16:39
I have one as a coho

sometimes.

Taryn Womack 16:43
Although,

Rich Bennett 16:45
although, so you wrote this and had no clue.

Taryn Womack 16:51
If one, if you've

Rich Bennett 16:53
you've

Taryn Womack 16:53
never

Rich Bennett 16:53
never been

Taryn Womack 16:53
been

Rich Bennett 16:53
to get number

Taryn Womack 16:56
to get

Rich Bennett 16:57
the Jenny

Taryn Womack 16:57
regular

Rich Bennett 16:58
Waithouse, holy crap,

Taryn Womack 16:59
number one, you've never been. And

Rich Bennett 17:00
I don't know if I've ever been in there or not, I

Taryn Womack 17:03
have.

Rich Bennett 17:03
think I But I know my

Taryn Womack 17:06
daughter that it

Rich Bennett 17:07
she bought

Taryn Womack 17:08
there

Rich Bennett 17:09
pretty sure it's the

Taryn Womack 17:10
one.

Rich Bennett 17:10
right And it's not. Then she'll correct me. And it's a red headed doll. Which and she

Taryn Womack 17:16
calls it Maggie.

Rich Bennett 17:18
We lost our first daughter and named her mag.

Kayla Deickman 17:21
Comforts

Rich Bennett 17:22
my daughter, the weird thing

Taryn Womack 17:24
is when my wife and daughter

Rich Bennett 17:25
go away, I'm freaking miserable. Oh, give me your Maggie doll,

Taryn Womack 17:28
you're

Rich Bennett 17:29
say,

Taryn Womack 17:29
dead.

Rich Bennett 17:29
Do you sleep with her?

Good.

Taryn Womack 17:35
Well, like I said, it all really depends on the types of spirits. It could be that, like, you know, maybe there's like positive energy enforced into the doll. So that could be

Rich Bennett 17:43
helps.

Taryn Womack 17:43
something that

Rich Bennett 17:43
Yeah.

Taryn Womack 17:44
Like not necessarily a spirit, just like

Kayla Deickman 17:46
And

Taryn Womack 17:46
an

Kayla Deickman 17:47
take that chance

Taryn Womack 17:48
energy.

Kayla Deickman 17:49
when you purchase one.

Taryn Womack 17:50
Personally, I just. like dolls in general.

Rich Bennett 17:53
Oh, no,

Taryn Womack 17:53
So

Rich Bennett 17:53
they're creepy

Taryn Womack 17:54
I hit. Yeah, when I went down there,

Kayla Deickman 17:56
I have no dolls at home.

Taryn Womack 17:58
It's actually kind of funny too, because when we went there, there's a basement that they call the pit. And that's where they would send. And she would put children as punishment, because it's just like it

Rich Bennett 18:11
like this

Taryn Womack 18:12
was

Rich Bennett 18:12
tall in the pit.

Taryn Womack 18:13
It was like this tall, probably like only three feet tall, not even three. I had to hunch over a lot. And I'm five, three, I think. So I had to like really hunch over and there were a bunch of dolls and toys down there for the children. And one of them was like a raggedy and style doll and it freaked me out.

Kayla Deickman 18:35
No,

Taryn Womack 18:36
But I will say, I did get touched there, like

Rich Bennett 18:39
no. Really?

Taryn Womack 18:40
tapped on. Like, and I like look over, because I was right next to the wall.

Rich Bennett 18:44
Yeah.

Taryn Womack 18:44
And I had to make sure that like nothing was like had the ability to touch me. like I just felt tap, tap, tap.

Rich Bennett 18:51
No.

Taryn Womack 18:51
Like on my side, I'm like,

Kayla Deickman 18:53
And

Taryn Womack 18:53
what was that?

Rich Bennett 18:55
Now we know where mosh pits came from.

Taryn Womack 18:59
No.

Rich Bennett 19:01
So when you felt that tap, would you do Hall AS out of

Taryn Womack 19:07
No,

Rich Bennett 19:07
there?

Taryn Womack 19:07
I was like, I was just like looking, I was trying to figure out like just, again,

Rich Bennett 19:11
What

Taryn Womack 19:11
trying to...

Rich Bennett 19:11
did it?

Taryn Womack 19:12
Yeah, and I didn't see any like reasonable explanation for how I was like, 'Oh, I got like, you know, touched by a ghost.' That's pretty interesting. That's cool.

Kayla Deickman 19:20
You got the ghost touch. And

Taryn Womack 19:22
it was, it was like, because they were saying that the kids like to be rambunctious like this--

Rich Bennett 19:27
Yeah. 'We

Taryn Womack 19:27
rambunctious and playful and joke-sters and stuff' so like, that made sense. It's so fun.

Rich Bennett 19:34
Now, was that at night when this happened to you? Okay.

Taryn Womack 19:37
Yeah, the tour started, I think at like seven or eight o'clock, it was in October, so.

Rich Bennett 19:44
Alright, so with that, 'cause I know they have tours that go through different things, but are you allowed to

Taryn Womack 19:51
go and light you up

Rich Bennett 19:52
On

Taryn Womack 19:53
on

Rich Bennett 19:53
a

Taryn Womack 19:53
a

Rich Bennett 19:53
tour?

Taryn Womack 19:53
tour? I don't.

Rich Bennett 19:54
Like, the cemetery, I know you can go in

Taryn Womack 19:56
yourself.

Rich Bennett 19:56
at night by

Taryn Womack 19:57
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 19:58
The battle for you,

Taryn Womack 19:59
'cause you can't.

Rich Bennett 20:03
would

Taryn Womack 20:04
I

Rich Bennett 20:04
love to do-- only reason be is because

Taryn Womack 20:05
tours...

Rich Bennett 20:05
sometimes these

Taryn Womack 20:08
I think there's an option to go in as like a ghost hunting thing, but those like, you have to buy like a pass to do that. You can't just like go in. But that is an option. You can do that for the orphanage and I know you can do it for the Jenny Wade House. I think you can do it for some of the other places around there. I like the Jenny Wade House. I've been there twice.

Rich Bennett 20:30
It looks like she's freaking out over here.

Kayla Deickman 20:32
I love

Taryn Womack 20:35
you.

Kayla Deickman 20:37
I will go with

Taryn Womack 20:39
you. Yeah, she's kind of a scary cat. Honestly, it's not that bad. Like, it makes it cre-- like,

Kayla Deickman 20:46
What?

Taryn Womack 20:47
honestly, the worst part about it that creeps me out is they actually have like waxed all the mannequins.

Kayla Deickman 20:52
Oh, yeah, I know

Taryn Womack 20:53
I don't like that.

Kayla Deickman 20:54
that's another--

Taryn Womack 20:55
But that's kind of like the creepiest part.

Like, I did catch a couple like pictures, like the first year at the Jenny Wade House. I didn't get any pictures at the orphanage.

Kayla Deickman 21:11
I wouldn't mind going during the day and then going at night to compare the two.

Taryn Womack 21:16
Like,

Kayla Deickman 21:16
Two

Taryn Womack 21:16
do it?

Kayla Deickman 21:16
separate

Taryn Womack 21:17
tours. Too bad. I don't think they actually have any daytime tours

Kayla Deickman 21:20
Oh,

Taryn Womack 21:20
there. they might, but I like, we--

Rich Bennett 21:22
You can go and

Kayla Deickman 21:23
But

Rich Bennett 21:23
buy--

Kayla Deickman 21:23
you can go, right?

Rich Bennett 21:24
Yeah.

Taryn Womack 21:24
So, like, at the gent-- like, they have-- at the base level, they have like gift shops that you can go into,

Rich Bennett 21:33
that--

Taryn Womack 21:33
but I think Like, it's-- like, you're not allowed into the actual like, area without a ticket, basically.

Rich Bennett 21:40
There are some places you can go into during the day, not necessarily Gettysburg, but you can please right here, like Jerusalem, a mill.

Taryn Womack 21:46
yeah.

Kayla Deickman 21:47
Oh,

Rich Bennett 21:47
Yeah. You go down into-- Oh, okay.

Taryn Womack 21:50
No,

Rich Bennett 21:51
Two.

Taryn Womack 21:52
the cover of the book is

Rich Bennett 21:53
Oh,

Taryn Womack 21:54
a bridge.

Rich Bennett 21:55
there's a lot of good stories about

Taryn Womack 21:57
Fun

Rich Bennett 21:57
that. Um,

Kayla Deickman 21:58
day.

Rich Bennett 21:58
but if you go down stairs,

Kayla Deickman 22:00
where were

Rich Bennett 22:00
we all was? Even during the day, sometimes you can feel something. Down there, and out while they're not opening it in like, in any ways.

Taryn Womack 22:08
Yeah. So,

Rich Bennett 22:09
you really want to be able to go down there, probably a risk to going there at night, because--

Kayla Deickman 22:14
I'm not trying to catch no trespassing charge.

Taryn Womack 22:17
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 22:18
No, I'm not--

Taryn Womack 22:19
I

Rich Bennett 22:20
don't think they do tours at night.

Kayla Deickman 22:24
I know,

Rich Bennett 22:24
why I said-- Alright,

Kayla Deickman 22:25
that's

Rich Bennett 22:25
go back here to the Jericho Bridge.

Taryn Womack 22:29
Yes.

Rich Bennett 22:30
Now, do you have a story about that inside the book as well?

Taryn Womack 22:33
No, I don't have anything like that. I just wanted something that looked creepy.

Rich Bennett 22:37
And

Taryn Womack 22:39
covered bridges are

Rich Bennett 22:40
creepy. At

Kayla Deickman 22:41
picture on it. Well,

Taryn Womack 22:42
least

Kayla Deickman 22:42
to be fair, I took the picture.

Rich Bennett 22:45
Oh, okay.

Taryn Womack 22:46
Yeah, she did take the cover picture.

Rich Bennett 22:49
Oh, yeah, I could see

Taryn Womack 22:50
it now.

I

Rich Bennett 22:58
love you. Even though it's been a year.

So, with the doll story has anything else that you've written in there? Like that happened?

Taryn Womack 23:09
No, that was the only one that really

Kayla Deickman 23:11
kind of was--

Taryn Womack 23:12
of a sh-- kind of a sh-- moment, because, yeah, because most of the other stories are like very made up. Like

Kayla Deickman 23:19
That

Taryn Womack 23:19
very

Kayla Deickman 23:19
was

Taryn Womack 23:19
made

Kayla Deickman 23:19
kind

Taryn Womack 23:19
up. They weren't based on-- yeah, they weren't based

Rich Bennett 23:21
You

Taryn Womack 23:21
on--

Rich Bennett 23:21
used to go camping a lot, didn't ya?

Taryn Womack 23:24
Uh, glamping, if you want to call it that. Like, I didn't go into like the middle of the

Rich Bennett 23:29
Let

Taryn Womack 23:29
woods.

Rich Bennett 23:30
me rephrase that you guys use to sit around campfires all the time.

Taryn Womack 23:33
Yes, yeah, we

Rich Bennett 23:33
Okay.

Taryn Womack 23:33
did. I

Kayla Deickman 23:35
was going to say her woods camping. I don't--

Taryn Womack 23:37
I like--

Kayla Deickman 23:38
I like--

Rich Bennett 23:39
No?

Taryn Womack 23:39
Grounds.

Kayla Deickman 23:39
Yeah.

Taryn Womack 23:40
I like going to camp grounds. Not like going into the middle of the woods type camping.

Rich Bennett 23:43
All

Taryn Womack 23:44
But,

Rich Bennett 23:44
campgrounds

Taryn Womack 23:44
yeah.

Rich Bennett 23:44
where you pitch a tent?

Taryn Womack 23:45
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 23:46
Yeah, I like and get Eastburg.

Taryn Womack 23:47
Yeah,

Rich Bennett 23:48
Okay,

Taryn Womack 23:48
I did

Rich Bennett 23:49
see?

Taryn Womack 23:49
that. We did like the yogi bear up in PA. We did a--

Rich Bennett 23:52
Yeah, they're like theme parks for tent people.

Taryn Womack 23:54
Yeah, pretty much.

Rich Bennett 23:55
Or cabins.

Kayla Deickman 23:56
I am not a camp person. I don't like dirt.

Rich Bennett 23:59
You

Taryn Womack 23:59
you

Rich Bennett 23:59
got,

Taryn Womack 23:59
got it.

Rich Bennett 24:00
You're not sleeping in the dirt.

Kayla Deickman 24:03
I don't like being that close to the dirt.

Rich Bennett 24:05
Then take a cut.

Kayla Deickman 24:18
Got lost in

Taryn Womack 24:19
the woods.

Kayla Deickman 24:21
Yeah. The, um, what are the smoky, the bear people call?

Taryn Womack 24:26
Rangers,

Kayla Deickman 24:28
bars, rangers.

Taryn Womack 24:29
Forest

Kayla Deickman 24:30
ranger came and brought him back. the

Taryn Womack 24:33
Um,

Kayla Deickman 24:33
unscathed, however,

Taryn Womack 24:34
he was a bear people.

Kayla Deickman 24:36
You're not gonna let me live that down, are

Taryn Womack 24:38
you?

Rich Bennett 24:38
Nope. Nope.

Kayla Deickman 24:40
when they brought him back, he would unbeknownst to us, was covered in poison ivy, poison oak and poison su-mac. And

Rich Bennett 24:48
And

Kayla Deickman 24:48
guess who found out she was highly allergic to

Rich Bennett 24:51
That's

Kayla Deickman 24:51
all of us.

Rich Bennett 24:51
you?

Kayla Deickman 24:52
Yeah, it took me eight months with bandages and wraps

Taryn Womack 24:57
would-

Kayla Deickman 24:57
before I

Taryn Womack 24:58
ight.

Kayla Deickman 24:59
So I don't camp. I don't,

Taryn Womack 25:01
that's f-

Kayla Deickman 25:02
trees or foliage or

Rich Bennett 25:03
Why

Kayla Deickman 25:03
dirt.

Rich Bennett 25:04
would you take your dog camping?

Kayla Deickman 25:06
It was, I was a kid.

Rich Bennett 25:08
Huh?

Taryn Womack 25:08
A lot of people do.

Kayla Deickman 25:09
I was a kid. My

Rich Bennett 25:10
him.

Kayla Deickman 25:10
dad took

Rich Bennett 25:10
Uh, okay.

Kayla Deickman 25:12
And he was in the newspaper on that camp trip to my chihuahua.

Rich Bennett 25:16
Because it was a loss.

Kayla Deickman 25:17
No, because there was someone from the Baltimore sun, um, who was just taking pictures of the area and

Rich Bennett 25:23
tripping.

Kayla Deickman 25:25
No idea. Um, and it was in 2000 and like,

uh, seven, I think.

Rich Bennett 25:33
Okay.

Kayla Deickman 25:34
Um, my dog, this, this chihuahua specifically passed last year. But um, yeah, it was.

Rich Bennett 25:40
Wow.

Taryn Womack 25:40
Adventure.

Kayla Deickman 25:41
He was only like a puppy at this.

Rich Bennett 25:43
Oh,

Taryn Womack 25:44
okay. It's like

Kayla Deickman 25:45
six or nine months old.

Rich Bennett 25:46
All right. What else in a long time ago? So you may enjoy camping?

Kayla Deickman 25:49
No,

Taryn Womack 25:50
no. I'm trying to get her to take the

Kayla Deickman 25:51
no,

Taryn Womack 25:52
kids with me like to go like even to like Yogi bear, which is like a really, really nice camp.

Kayla Deickman 25:57
I want

Taryn Womack 25:57
Kids.

Kayla Deickman 25:57
to take- I wouldn't mind taking them to Yogi bear. My concern is my kids are either going to love it or absolutely hate it. And

Taryn Womack 26:05
Well, considering their iPad kid probably. But I think because there's

Kayla Deickman 26:09
I.

Taryn Womack 26:09
going to be so much. There's going to be so much around there. They might be able to be

Kayla Deickman 26:13
distracted. Well, cadence, I think would like it. I'm not sure if my older one would.

Rich Bennett 26:18
You can rent a cabin. They can stay in

Kayla Deickman 26:20
that. That would be fine.

Rich Bennett 26:23
And they even have some of the cabins even have TVs

Taryn Womack 26:26
in

Rich Bennett 26:27
them. Right now granted that's not really camping. Yeah. Some of the tent sites even have a electric.

Taryn Womack 26:34
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 26:34
On them on there because my niece went with us one time. And then.

Today I hear this noise and I look and she's got her blow dryer plug. Me and my

Kayla Deickman 26:51
mom were looking out and I wanted to

Taryn Womack 26:52
see

Kayla Deickman 26:53
you at some other. Um, there's this rambling event.

Rich Bennett 26:56
Oh, right. The rambling

Kayla Deickman 26:57
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 26:57
fest.

Kayla Deickman 26:58
We were like looking at it. I applied to be a vendor there. Um, to face pain. We'll see what happens. But, um, I kind of want to go. But me and my mom were looking in that car camping, where we can just.

Rich Bennett 27:13
They have cabins there.

Kayla Deickman 27:15
Yeah, not for the

Rich Bennett 27:16
price. Oh,

Kayla Deickman 27:18
you know. Um,

Rich Bennett 27:21
yeah. Or you could just

Kayla Deickman 27:22
come with us.

Rich Bennett 27:23
You could just when it's, you know, that night's over, you can go back home and then ride back up there in the states. Not that far.

Kayla Deickman 27:29
I know it's only like 30 minutes, but then I'd be

Rich Bennett 27:31
30 minutes.

Kayla Deickman 27:32
Yeah, from my house.

Rich Bennett 27:35
I was in Thailand. I thought

Kayla Deickman 27:36
it was in Dublin. It is in darling.

Rich Bennett 27:37
That's 30 minutes years.

Kayla Deickman 27:39
Yeah,

Taryn Womack 27:40
like,

Kayla Deickman 27:42
like, like, in bell air,

Rich Bennett 27:43
air. Uh,

Taryn Womack 27:44
in bell

Rich Bennett 27:44
'cause of the traffic and everything.

Kayla Deickman 27:46
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 27:46
Okay,

Kayla Deickman 27:48
although it's a pretty big straight shot of the darling, didn't for me, but it does. It does take like 30 to 40 minutes, depending on where I'm going.

Rich Bennett 27:54
Okay.

Kayla Deickman 27:55
Um, and depending on the time of day. From like, I live like in the middle of nowhere, essentially. live, I

Taryn Womack 28:01
I

Kayla Deickman 28:01
live by everything, but I live

Taryn Womack 28:03
far away from

Kayla Deickman 28:04
everything that I do.

Rich Bennett 28:06
All right. So Terran. Any other hard books that you're working on?

Taryn Womack 28:12
I have the idea and the basic concept down for this one. Um, it's not going to be another short,

Rich Bennett 28:22
short. Short, Hori?

Taryn Womack 28:23
Hori

Kayla Deickman 28:24
Short,

Taryn Womack 28:24
Hori collection, but it's all going to be based around a single thing.

Rich Bennett 28:30
Oh,

Taryn Womack 28:31
so each story.

Rich Bennett 28:32
those are the crypts sort of that was different. Never mind.

Taryn Womack 28:37
Um, so each story is going to be based on a, like, haunted item or cursed item, but they all came from the same antique shop.

Rich Bennett 28:57
I had, uh, two young ladies wanted to dig, dig goes hunting and they played, uh, audio recording from when they were in there because,

Taryn Womack 29:07
because they have a

Rich Bennett 29:08
lot of antiques and, like you said,

Taryn Womack 29:11
the antiques

Rich Bennett 29:12
are haunted, something just attaches, oh yeah, you gotta

Taryn Womack 29:17
up.

Rich Bennett 29:17
get

Taryn Womack 29:18
Yeah, we don't really go to have a degrace of time just because we're down here and I don't really have anything up there that

Rich Bennett 29:26
restaurants, it's like that for those of you listening, alright, they're talking, we're having a degrace, it's about 20 minutes from us, yeah, obviously you don't, when you, you work from home, don't you?

Taryn Womack 29:43
No, I actually work in Bel air,

Kayla Deickman 29:46
works

Rich Bennett 29:46
she

Kayla Deickman 29:46
five minutes,

Taryn Womack 29:48
I don't know, there's, I, I don't mind have a degrace, but it's just, it's, there's nothing really there that I, like, regularly, like go to check out.

Kayla Deickman 29:57
I'm in, have degrace a lot recently, so I can't say anything.

Rich Bennett 30:00
I

Taryn Womack 30:00
know, I know, I want to take

Rich Bennett 30:01
it from Bel air to 20 minutes, right?

Kayla Deickman 30:03
No,

Rich Bennett 30:05
well then you're a slow-drive, or you're driving under the speed limit!

Kayla Deickman 30:09
Give me that look, no it takes me about a half an hour,

Rich Bennett 30:13
Well,

Kayla Deickman 30:13
40

Rich Bennett 30:14
I'm

Kayla Deickman 30:14
minutes.

Rich Bennett 30:14
sorry, 10 minutes longer.

Kayla Deickman 30:16
Half an hour to 40 minutes, and if I hit traffic, it takes me forever, and I question all my life decreases, leading up to...

Rich Bennett 30:24
You need to

Taryn Womack 30:25
go, go there and check out this move,

Rich Bennett 30:27
some of the

Taryn Womack 30:27
because

Rich Bennett 30:27
antique places, especially for a book like this, what's the other one, "Ceneca Canary", which is an antique store, just some of the, I can't get

Taryn Womack 30:36
into it,

Rich Bennett 30:37
some of these items are just going to pull you right towards

Taryn Womack 30:40
floor.

Rich Bennett 30:40
the

Taryn Womack 30:40
Well, I have the basics, I have the different items, I have their

Rich Bennett 30:45
Do

Taryn Womack 30:45
back

Rich Bennett 30:45
you actually

Taryn Womack 30:45
stories.

Rich Bennett 30:45
have the real items?

Taryn Womack 30:46
ant-- oh, I don't have them, but, like, I have the ideas of them, and, like, what their back stories were, and how they got haunted, or cursed, or whatever, it's just writing the actual story that I'm getting caught up on. When you go

Kayla Deickman 30:58
I'm

Taryn Womack 30:58
to

Kayla Deickman 30:58
too

Taryn Womack 30:58
an

Kayla Deickman 30:58
an

Taryn Womack 30:58
antique shop,

Kayla Deickman 31:00
you can find these items and--

Rich Bennett 31:01
No, they'll find her! Just, like, with the Jenny Wade House, wouldn't that be wild as

Taryn Womack 31:08
shit?

Rich Bennett 31:09
You already got these slots in your head, you go up to one of these antique shops, I mean, there's antique shops

Taryn Womack 31:14
everywhere

Rich Bennett 31:14
in here,

Taryn Womack 31:15
and

Rich Bennett 31:16
then you're just looking at the items like, "Oh, my God, that's what I had in my mind."

Taryn Womack 31:21
The problem and the reason I really don't want that to happen, except for

Rich Bennett 31:25
Because

Taryn Womack 31:25
maybe--

Rich Bennett 31:25
they're freaky to hell out?

Taryn Womack 31:26
No, except for maybe, like, a couple of the story ideas that I have, is that the antiques in my stories would probably belong to, what are their names? Jesus, the people from the conjuring?

Rich Bennett 31:46
Oh.

Kayla Deickman 31:46
Oh.

Taryn Womack 31:46
Like, it would belong in their house.

Rich Bennett 31:49
Like, witches at all? Is it not-- the conjuring?

Taryn Womack 31:52
No.

Rich Bennett 31:52
Isn't that-- that witches?

Taryn Womack 31:53
It's um,

Kayla Deickman 31:54
I don't remember.

Taryn Womack 31:56
Oh, my gosh. What are their names?

Kayla Deickman 31:58
Warthaid, the Hunters?

Taryn Womack 32:00
Yeah, there is. So, like, the, um, ed and Lorraine Warren, that's the name I was looking for. So their house has, like, a collection of the haunted and cursed items that they go and, like, save the people from, like, keep the collection. And you can act like you'll see more in, um, I think it was, like,

Rich Bennett 32:24
Annabelle 3 of--

Taryn Womack 32:25
them. Yeah.

Kayla Deickman 32:25
A lot

Taryn Womack 32:25
There's

Kayla Deickman 32:25
of

Taryn Womack 32:25
a lot of movies. That's, like,

Rich Bennett 32:27
There's

Taryn Womack 32:27
my--

Rich Bennett 32:27
a lot of-- There's a lot of Annabels?

Taryn Womack 32:28
There's a lot of Annabelle. There's three Annabelle movies, three-- there's now four conjuring movies, and there's two, the Nug movies. They're

Kayla Deickman 32:35
same--

Taryn Womack 32:35
all

Kayla Deickman 32:35
It's

Taryn Womack 32:35
in the

Kayla Deickman 32:36
like, "Nug one is freaky

Taryn Womack 32:37
"I

Kayla Deickman 32:37
out."

Taryn Womack 32:37
love the Nug." They're all in the same universe. But anyway, but you'll see in, like, the Annabelle 3 movie, all of the different items that they have in their collection because they all start coming. Like, they-- they're haunting stuff, actually, like, happens. But, like, a lot of the stuff that would be in this story that I've come up with, would probably belong in that room.

Rich Bennett 32:59
Really? But, yeah, so I have-- I-- I-- I-- I couldn't even watch the first--

Taryn Womack 33:05
That's

Rich Bennett 33:06
a freaky ass looking doll.

Taryn Womack 33:07
And what's really funny, like I said, I'm terrified of dolls. I don't like

Rich Bennett 33:11
Yeah.

Taryn Womack 33:11
dolls. But Annabelle and Chuckie-- I love

Rich Bennett 33:14
Chuckie's

Kayla Deickman 33:14
you

Rich Bennett 33:14
cool. You know,

Kayla Deickman 33:15
freak me out

Taryn Womack 33:15
They,

Kayla Deickman 33:15
as much as--

Taryn Womack 33:17
they are intended to look scary, so I think that's why they don't actually scare me, but if you put like an actual regular, uh, Raggedy Ann, or regular Porcelain doll in front of me, it

Rich Bennett 33:26
Uh,

Taryn Womack 33:26
terrifies.

Rich Bennett 33:27
the Porcelain

Kayla Deickman 33:27
doll. I will say, I

Taryn Womack 33:29
picture

Kayla Deickman 33:29
saw a of the Raggedy Ann doll, that Annabel was based on that style of doll.

Taryn Womack 33:36
Like, that is

Kayla Deickman 33:39
absolutely

Taryn Womack 33:40
Annabel

Rich Bennett 33:40
doll, is it? Yeah.

Taryn Womack 33:41
Doll.

Kayla Deickman 33:41
Uh, they are

Rich Bennett 33:42
Museum

Kayla Deickman 33:42
just.

Rich Bennett 33:43
in

Taryn Womack 33:44
Uhm,

Rich Bennett 33:44
Poinfo?

Taryn Womack 33:45
right now, she's on tour.

Kayla Deickman 33:46
That's weird.

Taryn Womack 33:48
And, uh, she's setting fires everywhere she goes.

Rich Bennett 33:50
What?

Taryn Womack 33:51
Yeah.

Kayla Deickman 33:52
Surprise me.

Taryn Womack 33:52
Did you not hear about that?

Kayla Deickman 33:53
I

Rich Bennett 33:53
No.

Kayla Deickman 33:54
heard about

Taryn Womack 33:54
her. She was, she, they, I forget exactly where it was, but she was in an area, and it was on a plantation, and the plantation caught fire. They tried to put it out, and then they caught fire again, and this was all while she was there.

Kayla Deickman 34:07
I, I

Taryn Womack 34:07
I

Kayla Deickman 34:07
think

Taryn Womack 34:08
think

Kayla Deickman 34:08
I did read about that.

Rich Bennett 34:10
Really?

Taryn Womack 34:10
Yeah.

Kayla Deickman 34:10
And then when she moved it stopped.

Taryn Womack 34:12
Yeah, and, um, apparently, now granted, the person who's doing the tour denies this, but apparently she did, like, disappeared for a No, like, she got lost.

Rich Bennett 34:23
The,

Taryn Womack 34:23
the doll did. The doll, the doll,

Kayla Deickman 34:26
the doll. And this is why I don't do creepy stuff, creepy stuff, creepy stuff.

Rich Bennett 34:32
You're best

Taryn Womack 34:33
friends.

Rich Bennett 34:34
creepy stuff.

Kayla Deickman 34:35
This is why I don't.

Rich Bennett 34:37
You were told before we started you talked about how you went to this horror convention with, like, a radical horror convention.

Taryn Womack 34:46
It wasn't,

Kayla Deickman 34:47
they wasn't the horror.

Taryn Womack 34:48
It was romance.

Rich Bennett 34:50
All right, I'm sorry, but if it involves a cracking, it's

Taryn Womack 34:54
horror.

Rich Bennett 34:54
got to be

Kayla Deickman 34:56
It can be wonderful for her. How about horror to the, horror to the regular

Taryn Womack 35:02
Yeah,

Kayla Deickman 35:02
bull?

Taryn Womack 35:03
yeah, you

Rich Bennett 35:05
know what, I'm just going to ask it

to listeners. No, because I don't have a freaking clue how many different genres are out there when it comes. All right, let's just talk about romance and how many.

Kayla Deickman 35:23
Romance it depends on how you want to classify them because even regular categories have subcategories, like, and this is outing myself a bit here, I read a lot of.

Rich Bennett 35:37
Outing yourself

Kayla Deickman 35:39
a little bit.

Rich Bennett 35:39
Okay,

Kayla Deickman 35:41
you know, I'm one of the girlies that has the little covers on my books, so people can't see what I'm reading when I'm out in public. Maybe judging.

Rich Bennett 35:53
You read a lot of them in school too, then,

Kayla Deickman 35:58
yeah.

No, I read a lot of reverse hero books.

Rich Bennett 36:07
A lot of what?

Taryn Womack 36:09
So, like, do you know what a herm is like

Kayla Deickman 36:13
in general?

Rich Bennett 36:14
You tell me like the.

Kayla Deickman 36:19
When there's when there's one man,

Rich Bennett 36:21
and has a ton of different

Kayla Deickman 36:23
Yes,

Rich Bennett 36:23
wives.

Kayla Deickman 36:24
okay. So a reverse herm is that, but in reverse.

Taryn Womack 36:27
So like, it's one woman with

Kayla Deickman 36:29
multiple partners.

Rich Bennett 36:30
Okay,

Kayla Deickman 36:31
okay. Okay, and the in most traditional reverse herm's it is a woman with multiple men, but there's some more ones recently that I've read that has had other partners involved as well, which is kind of awesome.

Taryn Womack 36:44
Very historical paranormal, normal supernatural.

Kayla Deickman 36:50
You've got your micro genres like I'm reading a reverse herm that's all about hockey romance. So then you've got your puck bunnies.

Rich Bennett 36:59
Wait a minute. What

Taryn Womack 37:03
like dependent it's yeah, but then you also have like the traditional romance which just romance you have. Why a romance you have like

Kayla Deickman 37:14
standard romance, you've got things like nor Robert.

Rich Bennett 37:17
Wait, wait, wait, wait, hold up. Back up. Back up. Hockey romance like

Taryn Womack 37:21
Yeah,

Rich Bennett 37:21
ice hockey

Taryn Womack 37:23
yeah, there's like a whole genre based on like

Kayla Deickman 37:25
sports.

Taryn Womack 37:25
hockey like sport. Yeah, sports

Kayla Deickman 37:27
in a

Rich Bennett 37:28
puck bunny.

Kayla Deickman 37:30
Yeah,

Taryn Womack 37:31
yeah,

Rich Bennett 37:32
what? Okay,

Kayla Deickman 37:34
and then like, then you also have to think of there's also.

Rich Bennett 37:39
Look at my daughter watching hockey a lot.

Kayla Deickman 37:46
But yeah, so Terran, I've got a couple questions about your book so we can get back on

Rich Bennett 37:50
Yes,

Kayla Deickman 37:50
topic.

Rich Bennett 37:51
thank

Taryn Womack 37:51
you.

Rich Bennett 37:52
Well, we're

Kayla Deickman 37:53
the one who put us off

Rich Bennett 37:54
I'm

Kayla Deickman 37:54
topic.

Rich Bennett 37:55
sorry, puck bunny. What is up?

Kayla Deickman 38:00
Ya

Kayla Deickman 39:37
That was so Tarrin. What got you into writing?

Taryn Womack 39:39
Um,

Rich Bennett 39:40
I've been. The puck, Bunny. And the crack.

Kayla Deickman 39:42
No,

Rich Bennett 39:43
no. I'm.

Taryn Womack 39:44
Um,

Rich Bennett 39:44
Go ahead.

Taryn Womack 39:46
I've been writing since I was like in middle school.

Kayla Deickman 39:49
Um, and you have training behind it?

Taryn Womack 39:52
I went to college for um,

Rich Bennett 39:55
while in middle school?

Taryn Womack 39:56
Yeah. Um, I'm that smart. No, I went to a university bottom more. I have a degree in English with a concentration in creative writing and publication. Oh no, you. Yeah. I graduated in 2019 with that. So don't really do anything with it. But

Kayla Deickman 40:13
you do

Taryn Womack 40:13
You

Kayla Deickman 40:13
do

Taryn Womack 40:14
write.

Kayla Deickman 40:14
stuff.

Taryn Womack 40:14
You have it not like professionally, which was the goal. But it's fine. Um, and

Kayla Deickman 40:20
a journalism.

Taryn Womack 40:21
I don't like journalism.

Kayla Deickman 40:22
I don't think

Taryn Womack 40:24
tried journalism for like internships. And it just wasn't me. I wanted to go into and like become an editor like professionally,

Rich Bennett 40:31
I

Taryn Womack 40:32
um,

Kayla Deickman 40:33
for Maggie. I can't afford your professional

Taryn Womack 40:36
for anything like, um, like I would prefer book editing, um, but magazine newspaper that totally fine too, um,

Kayla Deickman 40:45
you can't become a professional editor. I won't be able to.

Taryn Womack 40:49
But that's, uh, on a, like I love writing, but I also really, really love editing, like it's one of my favorite things. Um,

Kayla Deickman 40:56
she's really good at it. She sends me my books back with lots of red lines and swiggles.

Taryn Womack 41:02
I'm, I'm, I'm a harsh, not a harsh critic, but I like critique a lot.

Kayla Deickman 41:08
So you're only harsh with me.

Taryn Womack 41:10
I'm harsh because I love you. Um, I mean, I am harsh with other people. But in a, not in like a, call

Rich Bennett 41:17
constructive

Taryn Womack 41:18
criticism. Yeah.

Kayla Deickman 41:20
Yeah. I don't get that.

Taryn Womack 41:21
I don't, I do. Um, really like, I'm not like, you need, you need to change this. You need to change it.

Rich Bennett 41:28
right.

Taryn Womack 41:28
I'm

Kayla Deickman 41:28
She

Taryn Womack 41:28
like,

Kayla Deickman 41:28
is

Taryn Womack 41:28
Hey, I would suggest that you change this to this. It would probably flow a little bit better. But I'm also like, really like, you

Kayla Deickman 41:38
all, the tips and all pointers.

Taryn Womack 41:40
And yeah, I'm very,

Kayla Deickman 41:41
that it's up

Taryn Womack 41:41
the

Kayla Deickman 41:41
to

Taryn Womack 41:41
very hardcore about like what should be changed and what shouldn't because, um, I'm autistic. So like, the waste, yeah, the way stuff flows is very like important to me. Um, so like when I'm reading stuff and it doesn't like flow well, like even like actual like publish books, I'll go, why

Rich Bennett 42:03
wow,

Taryn Womack 42:04
I'm very picky about it.

Rich Bennett 42:05
but you know there are a lot of publish books out there and even me, I'm

Taryn Womack 42:10
Because

Rich Bennett 42:10
reading, and I gotta go back.

Taryn Womack 42:13
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 42:14
Somebody didn't edit

Kayla Deickman 42:16
this. There, there's been lots of, um, there was a romance book. I didn't read it. It was a hockey romance by, um, the

blue cover. Probably like front and center in that section and Barnes and Nobles. But there was a lot of stipulation because there were name errors in the books, um, which actually was what turned me

Taryn Womack 42:39
from

Kayla Deickman 42:39
away

Taryn Womack 42:40
this

Kayla Deickman 42:40
thing because it was so widespread known that halfway through the books, the main characters name changed.

Taryn Womack 42:46
And

Kayla Deickman 42:46
it was like a huge editing problem.

Taryn Womack 42:47
Yeah, like I know that there's probably like a couple errors in here that I made of mist.

Rich Bennett 42:53
Right.

Taryn Womack 42:53
Um, and every time I, yeah, yeah, it happens. And every time I go in and I see that, I'm like, uh, I like get so angry with myself, because I can't, I mean, I can go back and change it, but I still have so many books that I'm trying to sell that I. With

Rich Bennett 43:10
what you just talk

Taryn Womack 43:12
about right there, do

Rich Bennett 43:13
you think that's why you

Taryn Womack 43:15
see books you'll

Rich Bennett 43:15
see, like, uh, was it like,

Kayla Deickman 43:18
I. and you know, a lot of times that has to do with

Rich Bennett 43:22
Well, you're,

Kayla Deickman 43:23
grammatical

Rich Bennett 43:23
'DP', right? Is the KDP self-published,

Taryn Womack 43:27
is that

Kayla Deickman 43:28
So, there's several, um, but the two bigger ones in the United States are KDP, which is Kindle Direct Publishing, and then Ingraham Spark.

Taryn Womack 43:37
I use Ingraham

Rich Bennett 43:38
Ingraham's,

Taryn Womack 43:38
Spark.

Rich Bennett 43:38
okay. So,

Kayla Deickman 43:39
both

fun fact, both use the same print source.

Taryn Womack 43:43
Okay. So, put on your

Rich Bennett 43:44
book's print on demand,

Kayla Deickman 43:46
Yes,

Rich Bennett 43:46
right now.

Taryn Womack 43:48
yes, yeah.

Rich Bennett 43:49
You can go back and do another,

Taryn Womack 43:50
I can, but I still

so, what I did is, I actually bought a bunch of

Rich Bennett 43:55
to

Taryn Womack 43:55
books sell, and I still have probably, like, 60 books left at my house.

Kayla Deickman 44:01
So, you hear that people? You need to buy some books so she can put a second edition out there.

Taryn Womack 44:05
Yes, please.

Rich Bennett 44:06
So, she can sign

Taryn Womack 44:07
I've

Rich Bennett 44:07
them?

Taryn Womack 44:08
yes, I've

I've, uh

it's been published for almost two years now, and I've sold less than 100 books, which kind of makes me sad. Um, but I'm not very good at marketing, so that is partially my fault.

Rich Bennett 44:21
A lot of authors will say that the hardest part is the

Taryn Womack 44:24
marketing. Because as much as, like, I can put out on Facebook, like, for, like, really good marketing, like you need to pay for it, and unfortunately my job does not allow me to pay for that kind of stuff. But, with Ingraham Spark, which is really nice, is that it automatically puts everything online, so it's

my book is also on Amazon, it's at Barnes & Noble's Target Walmart.

if you go in and you look up, like, horror or something like that or short stories, like, it'll pop up,

Rich Bennett 44:52
Like,

Taryn Womack 44:52
and I have had, like, a couple of people buy online. Um, and I do get those, like, um

what's the word?

Rich Bennett 45:00
Rollies?

Taryn Womack 45:01
Rollies.

Kayla Deickman 45:01
Yeah.

Taryn Womack 45:02
Um, because I only get, like, a couple of cents based off those books. Um, so that's why I always encourage people

Kayla Deickman 45:07
it's

Taryn Womack 45:07
to buy

Kayla Deickman 45:08
always

Taryn Womack 45:08
I get

Kayla Deickman 45:08
if

Taryn Womack 45:08
the full price.

Kayla Deickman 45:09
It's always better to buy directly from the author, no matter what series or what genre you can, um,

Taryn Womack 45:15
not

Kayla Deickman 45:15
because we're

Taryn Womack 45:17
making all

Kayla Deickman 45:18
making all the

author any

Taryn Womack 45:18
the

Kayla Deickman 45:18
money.

Taryn Womack 45:19
not

Kayla Deickman 45:19
Unless you're signing with larger companies.

Rich Bennett 45:21
Yeah.

Kayla Deickman 45:22
Um, and even then it can be kind of

Taryn Womack 45:25
so

Kayla Deickman 45:25
make sure you're buying directly when you can, and from

Rich Bennett 45:28
Ned, do you

Taryn Womack 45:28
have your

do you have your website? I do.

Rich Bennett 45:29
What's the website?

Taryn Womack 45:30
It's uh, Teran Womack books, uh, bigcartelle.com.

Rich Bennett 45:37
All right.

Taryn Womack 45:38
What was the big

Rich Bennett 45:39
cartel

Taryn Womack 45:39
cartel

Rich Bennett 45:40
fake?

Taryn Womack 45:40
Okay. That's

it's

it's a

it's a website, don't mean.

Rich Bennett 45:42
Oh,

Taryn Womack 45:43
Um, so, like, it's not my website, but I use

Rich Bennett 45:46
okay.

Taryn Womack 45:46
their website, so it's, it's, like, um

Kayla Deickman 45:49
it's like wacks.

Rich Bennett 45:49
Yeah. Okay. All right. So, question for you. Do you have the

Taryn Womack 45:55
ability

Rich Bennett 45:57
or do you

do you do zoom calls from home? Do you have the ability to do that?

Taryn Womack 46:00
Sounds, yeah.

Rich Bennett 46:01
So you have a microphone, web cam, and all that?

Taryn Womack 46:03
Through my computer, yeah.

Rich Bennett 46:05
All right. So Teran, guess what? Free marketing for you.

Taryn Womack 46:08
Okay.

Rich Bennett 46:09
And I had another

Taryn Womack 46:10
another

Rich Bennett 46:11
local

Taryn Womack 46:11
local

Rich Bennett 46:11
author

Taryn Womack 46:11
author on

Rich Bennett 46:12
on

Taryn Womack 46:12
the

Rich Bennett 46:12
And

Taryn Womack 46:12
year.

Rich Bennett 46:12
I suggested this to him, and he's been freaking blowing up selling books left

Taryn Womack 46:16
and right.

Rich Bennett 46:17
Get on other podcasts right at the world. It's easy to do because

Taryn Womack 46:23
this

Rich Bennett 46:25
is where you're going to sell your books, but if you get on other podcasts right at the world, somebody from Canada, England, California, whatever will hear it and

Taryn Womack 46:36
possibly knock on wood by your

Rich Bennett 46:38
book, or by several of them, because that's one of the things I've pushed, especially,

Taryn Womack 46:44
books like this,

Rich Bennett 46:45
like the stories. First of all, I think they should be at campgrounds. So

Kayla Deickman 46:50
I could see them being at, like, like, in the little campground, um, when people go into,

Rich Bennett 46:55
like the Yogi Bears and all that,

Kayla Deickman 46:57
like, yeah,

Rich Bennett 46:57
in the gift shop.

Kayla Deickman 46:58
Yeah, the gift

Rich Bennett 46:59
shop. So

Taryn Womack 46:59
and

Rich Bennett 47:00
many people

campgrounds, I mean, you need a lot of bunch of these.

Kayla Deickman 47:04
Campfire stories.

Rich Bennett 47:06
Exactly.

Kayla Deickman 47:06
You know what? Her book

Taryn Womack 47:09
actually, one of them, there is

it is based on campfire stories and camping.

Kayla Deickman 47:13
So, her book reminds

Taryn Womack 47:14
me of

Kayla Deickman 47:15
scary stories to tell in the dark. So if you like wherever

Rich Bennett 47:20
scary stories kind of suck if you tell them in the sunlight.

Kayla Deickman 47:24
I'm talking about the book and movie series, friend.

Taryn Womack 47:29
was a very popular look,

Rich Bennett 47:31
It

Taryn Womack 47:31
you know what?

Kayla Deickman 47:32
But if you like those, you'll really like this. and I just pointed at her book. Oh, the doll one.

Rich Bennett 47:42
Really? But you don't like dolls.

Kayla Deickman 47:44
Doesn't mean I don't like to read about them. Everyone's gone. I just don't want to own them or have them in my vicinity, or go somewhere one's going to eventually attach to me. I've got children who

Taryn Womack 47:54
like

Kayla Deickman 47:54
Like

Taryn Womack 47:54
toy.

Kayla Deickman 47:54
toy.

Rich Bennett 47:55
Alright, Caleb, then in that case I'm going to put you in spot.

Which-which story didn't you like?

Taryn Womack 48:05
You can be honest.

Rich Bennett 48:07
Yes, you know

Taryn Womack 48:07
Or

Rich Bennett 48:07
how-

Taryn Womack 48:08
if you want to rephrase it which story did you like the least?

Rich Bennett 48:12
Remember how you said she doesn't give you constructive criticism. She just yells at you or whatever.

Kayla Deickman 48:17
It's okay, but she does that because she loves

Taryn Womack 48:19
She

Kayla Deickman 48:19
me

Taryn Womack 48:19
would out of love.

Kayla Deickman 48:20
and-

Rich Bennett 48:20
Well, doing-you're doing this out of

Kayla Deickman 48:25
Realistically, the snowman

Rich Bennett 48:27
love.

Kayla Deickman 48:27
one. And it had to-it's just because like

Taryn Womack 48:32
the type of story?

Kayla Deickman 48:33
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 48:33
Oh, I got

Taryn Womack 48:34
laughing.

Rich Bennett 48:34
to

Taryn Womack 48:34
So

Rich Bennett 48:34
hear snowman

Taryn Womack 48:37
the snowman, that's probably one of the shortest ones in the book,

Rich Bennett 48:40
because he's

Taryn Womack 48:41
uhm,

but it is... I don't know how to like describe it without really giving too much away. Uhm,

Kayla Deickman 48:52
beat snowman.

Taryn Womack 48:54
Creepy snowman,

Rich Bennett 48:55
Like.

Taryn Womack 48:55
but the problem?

Rich Bennett 48:56
Jack Frost.

Taryn Womack 48:57
No, so, okay. So in the story, the child of someone goes missing in the middle of winter, like up super north where there's blizzards. Pretty much all winter. And they can't find them. And he's gone for the entire winter and, uhm,

Kayla Deickman 49:18
creepy snowman.

Taryn Womack 49:19
And in the backyard of like the narrators house, uh, there's like a family of snowman that, you know, her husband and kids built in there, they're the entire winter. Well as, I don't want to give it away.

Kayla Deickman 49:37
Don't give it away. Uhm,

Taryn Womack 49:41
but something happens as this snow starts to melt.

Rich Bennett 49:46
Okay.

Taryn Womack 49:48
And

Kayla Deickman 49:48
go with this.

Taryn Womack 49:49
can And we, we

Rich Bennett 49:51
find out what happened.

Taryn Womack 49:52
Yeah, it's the hard part,

Kayla Deickman 49:55
I think,

Taryn Womack 49:55
short stories

Kayla Deickman 49:55
freaky

Taryn Womack 49:56
is because it's the hardest part about short stories because I want to tell people about the plot, but there's not really a lot. And I don't know how to shorten it enough to, so it's not giving things away.

Kayla Deickman 50:08
Creepy snowman.

Taryn Womack 50:09
except the snowman isn't really creepy. It's what happens

Kayla Deickman 50:12
It's,

Taryn Womack 50:13
that makes it creepy.

Kayla Deickman 50:14
Creepy.

Rich Bennett 50:15
Hey, you thought about doing this in an audible

Taryn Womack 50:19
form? Uhm,

Kayla Deickman 50:20
that would be really

Taryn Womack 50:21
cool. That would be cool. The only thing is it is trying to find someone to read them because each of them has their own narrator voice.

Rich Bennett 50:28
Right.

Taryn Womack 50:28
Like the first one, Joy is in the voice of probably like a 16 or 17 year old girl.

Rich Bennett 50:35
Oh girl, a 16 year old girl. You got one right there, Kayla.

Taryn Womack 50:38
um, and

Rich Bennett 50:39
Your,

Taryn Womack 50:39
your voice sounds very.

A

Rich Bennett 50:44
Yeah.

Taryn Womack 50:44
little. Yeah, but it's more so it would have to be someone who speaks fairly monotone because Joy is a sociopath. Um,

Kayla Deickman 50:52
you have to talk like this, the entire,

Taryn Womack 50:53
like she doesn't feel emotions. And that's what the main part of the story is. And it's the irony that her name is Joy.

Rich Bennett 51:01
You know, oh, I so I'm brainstorming here now. How many, how many different characters in the book with? I actually

Taryn Womack 51:11
have many

Rich Bennett 51:12
stories

Taryn Womack 51:12
first.

Rich Bennett 51:12
are in there

Taryn Womack 51:12
There's 15.

Rich Bennett 51:14
15. So how many different

Taryn Womack 51:16
characters

Rich Bennett 51:17
in

Taryn Womack 51:17
story?

Rich Bennett 51:17
there actually out of the 15

Kayla Deickman 51:20
Each one's narrated, right?

Rich Bennett 51:21
So they're just narrated?

Taryn Womack 51:23
Yeah, everyone is narrated, but a couple of them, are

Kayla Deickman 51:27
again, think

Taryn Womack 51:27
narrated from a character's perspective. So like a cup, like there are a few that have like outside narrators. So third person. And then there's, but there's a bunch of them that are first person from the characters perspective.

Kayla Deickman 51:41
I think campfire tales.

Taryn Womack 51:43
Yeah. So like a cup, so like stories like the well, um,

Kayla Deickman 51:50
the

Taryn Womack 51:51
minds, I think it's first person. If I remember correctly. Um, snowman probably could, uh, maybe dream house. Um, Joy, they could probably all be narrated by the same person. Okay.

Rich Bennett 52:04
Okay.

Taryn Womack 52:04
Um, but then there's others that are, uh, from the perspective of a male, um, older men, younger men, there's older women. Um,

Kayla Deickman 52:14
he couldn't,

Taryn Womack 52:15
you know,

Kayla Deickman 52:16
I can't tell you if it's going to be done right, but he could do one for you.

Taryn Womack 52:20
But um,

Rich Bennett 52:20
why wouldn't it be

Taryn Womack 52:21
right?

Rich Bennett 52:21
done

Taryn Womack 52:22
You're reading the

Rich Bennett 52:23
book.

Taryn Womack 52:24
Yeah. And I'm

Rich Bennett 52:25
that's

Taryn Womack 52:25
just,

Rich Bennett 52:25
all it is. It's

Taryn Womack 52:26
yeah. And I know some people, well, someone can just narrate the whole thing. I'm super picky and how like 'cause I don't like audiobooks because I like to hear the character's voice. And I don't and

Rich Bennett 52:40
you need somebody that if you can't find somebody that can do the character's

Taryn Womack 52:45
voice, then

Rich Bennett 52:47
you need to find somebody that even if it's

Taryn Womack 52:51
just

Rich Bennett 52:52
Do that one voice thing higher than

Taryn Womack 52:55
yeah, and so if I like go in and it's like One like one of these stories has like five different characters that speak and like while I can probably be like oh, well Yes, one person can speak for all of them. It's just it sounds better personally to me if there's a speaker for every single one and then there's a narrator voice

Kayla Deickman 53:15
Yeah, I do I do tend to read or listen

Rich Bennett 53:21
That's

Taryn Womack 53:23
just a personal

Rich Bennett 53:24
I

Taryn Womack 53:24
like thing for me like

Rich Bennett 53:25
That's

Taryn Womack 53:27
like not the norm with audiobook

Kayla Deickman 53:29
but it is becoming more of a norm because if you look at how a lot of graphic Audio books are being made. It's all with the new narration Honestly, I feel like they do better because they are doing narration You're able to follow along who's saying what rather than having a consistent and like All

Rich Bennett 53:52
right, so do you know of anybody? that

Any people who you would like to have their voice be part of the book If it

Taryn Womack 54:02
on

Rich Bennett 54:02
was

Taryn Womack 54:02
I haven't really thought about it to be honest

Rich Bennett 54:09
All right, so I'm gonna offer you

Taryn Womack 54:13
I'm

Rich Bennett 54:14
probably gonna get a lot of authors pissed

Taryn Womack 54:16
me

Rich Bennett 54:16
at Seriously

Taryn Womack 54:19
Maybe

Rich Bennett 54:20
a great idea

Hey, but if you could if you have people in mind that could do that and I have no problem doing it either if you want

Taryn Womack 54:35
You

Rich Bennett 54:37
just everybody gets a copy of the book and you write down or script and write down what they read and you knock it out

Kayla Deickman 54:43
It could always be done as a podcast to where you do a podcast roundtable

Rich Bennett 54:48
Do a podcast or a table but I have the equipment you could actually record it. And if everybody can't make it at one time Then you just have them do their parts

Taryn Womack 54:57
and you just had a day,

Kayla Deickman 54:57
yeah

Rich Bennett 54:58
yeah,

Taryn Womack 54:58
Yeah, that'd be cool. And that's like something that I've thought like kind of thought about especially for like the novels

Rich Bennett 55:04
yeah

Taryn Womack 55:04
that I'm currently just never thought about it for this one because I was like oh, it's still small It's like it's not really like a big thing. I

Rich Bennett 55:11
I

Taryn Womack 55:11
don't know if anybody will get that

Rich Bennett 55:13
I think that would

Kayla Deickman 55:14
be

Rich Bennett 55:18
getting

Kayla Deickman 55:19
Especially

Rich Bennett 55:19
close to

Taryn Womack 55:20
Halloween

Kayla Deickman 55:21
Yeah,

Rich Bennett 55:23
I mean there are a lot I mean I love listening to the audible certain books Self-help books I can't listen

Kayla Deickman 55:29
it.

Rich Bennett 55:29
to

Taryn Womack 55:29
a novels

Rich Bennett 55:30
I got stories I

Taryn Womack 55:33
to

Rich Bennett 55:33
rather listen Then read them

Taryn Womack 55:42
Friends

Kayla Deickman 55:42
friends, I'm almost 30

Rich Bennett 55:45
put you sound young

Kayla Deickman 55:47
I'm just

Rich Bennett 55:48
Younger let me repeat you sound younger than what you actually are

Taryn Womack 55:52
I do

so

Rich Bennett 55:56
and there's the second voice right there You have three voices right here And I'm sure you

Taryn Womack 56:03
can do other

Rich Bennett 56:04
voices, right? No, you can do other voices right.

Taryn Womack 56:09
I can try

Kayla Deickman 56:12
I

mean

Taryn Womack 56:16
here's the thing I have my regular voice I have my customer service voice that is very good and like

Kayla Deickman 56:20
Oh,

Taryn Womack 56:20
very

Kayla Deickman 56:20
I

Taryn Womack 56:21
different.

Kayla Deickman 56:21
love our customer service

Taryn Womack 56:23
so Different voices. It's just a matter of like trying to keep up with it as you're reading focusing on it as you're reading that can be a little difficult

Rich Bennett 56:31
Okay,

Taryn Womack 56:33
Because

Rich Bennett 56:33
I was talking to somebody not too long a good that does the customer service

Kayla Deickman 56:37
And

Rich Bennett 56:39
she has to disguise her voice to sound like a little girl Because the company said people aren't gonna yell so do I got to hear your customer service voice

Taryn Womack 56:52
So recent

Recently, it's a little bit more my voice just a little higher pitched Hi, how are you today? How can I help you

Rich Bennett 57:04
see? Yeah, yeah

Taryn Womack 57:06
Uhm, when I used to work in like restaurants and stuff, like, it was definitely more shipper. When I worked at crackerbarrel, I like had a, um, habit of adding like a twang to it.

Rich Bennett 57:18
"Ah,

Taryn Womack 57:18
And I was like,

Rich Bennett 57:18
excuse me,

Taryn Womack 57:19
I had to-"

Rich Bennett 57:20
Oh, nah, it's crackerbarrel.

Taryn Womack 57:21
Hey y'all, how y'all doing today? My name

Rich Bennett 57:23
It's

Taryn Womack 57:23
is-"

Rich Bennett 57:23
friday ochre, you gotta

Taryn Womack 57:24
Like,

Rich Bennett 57:24
have that-

Kayla Deickman 57:24
mm-hmm.

Rich Bennett 57:26
And

Taryn Womack 57:26
that always tended to like, be welcoming to-

Rich Bennett 57:30
Yeah. It's

Taryn Womack 57:31
people, because like, I mean-

Kayla Deickman 57:33
*laughs*

Taryn Womack 57:34
'Cause like, people don't like your natural voice when you're talking to them unless like, 'cause where I work now, that we have a lot of regular, so I don't really have to use my customer service voice as much.

Rich Bennett 57:43
Right.

Taryn Womack 57:43
Uhm, because they know what my voice sounds like, and they know how I naturally act with people. I'm a very friendly person with like everybody there. Uhm, they're my customers. Uhm, so like, uh, it's- I don't have to use it as much, but then you get to meet people and it's like, "Oh, hi! Do you want to find everything okay?" "Can I help you with anything?" Oh, I'm so glad you made

Kayla Deickman 58:04
I

Taryn Womack 58:04
this,

Kayla Deickman 58:05
think

Taryn Womack 58:05
like, that kind of stuff.

Kayla Deickman 58:05
it's funny when I go to visit, or I work- For- for anybody who has not figured it out yet, she's my best friend. We've been friends for a lot of years.

Taryn Womack 58:14
15.

Kayla Deickman 58:15
Ah, that's a lot of years.

Taryn Womack 58:18
*laughs*

Kayla Deickman 58:19
"She's tolerated me for 15 years. She can tolerate it till we die. It's fine."

Rich Bennett 58:24
"Lord..."

Kayla Deickman 58:24
Uhm,

Taryn Womack 58:25
secrets we can't go away. We can't, um, run away from each other.

Rich Bennett 58:30
That's another podcast.

Kayla Deickman 58:31
Uhm, but-

Rich Bennett 58:32
Deepest secrets.

Taryn Womack 58:34
"Oh." "I'm

Kayla Deickman 58:35
pretty open. It's cool."

Rich Bennett 58:36
"Oh, that's very fun then."

Kayla Deickman 58:37
Uhm, but I like visiting her at work because then I can make fun of her with her customer's service voice. It's one of my favorite pastimes.

Taryn Womack 58:44
"Yeah, it's-it's-it's

Kayla Deickman 58:45
'Cause I know how

Taryn Womack 58:46
how

Kayla Deickman 58:46
she

Taryn Womack 58:46
she is.

Kayla Deickman 58:47
is when she's hanging out with me and my children." "Yeah, it's

Taryn Womack 58:50
"Really

Kayla Deickman 58:51
kinda

Taryn Womack 58:51
kind of

Kayla Deickman 58:51
funny."

Taryn Womack 58:51
funny. Um, like, she'll be in line and then there'll be some behind her and then I'm working with someone and, um, like I said, most of the customers are So they- they don't care

Rich Bennett 59:03
everybody-

Taryn Womack 59:03
and

Rich Bennett 59:04
Right.

Taryn Womack 59:04
Deeper than I. So, like, I'll just, I'll be like happy and then I'll go, "What do you want?"

Kayla Deickman 59:08
She's had a co-worker to look at her funny when she- when I pulled up into the line and it was like, "No, it's okay. We know each other."

Taryn Womack 59:18
"Yeah, like, just-just start bullying her. I'm like, "What are you doing here?"

Kayla Deickman 59:23
And then I ask her where something is because I'm inept at the store and she's like, "You should know where this stuff is. It's over there." And then I'm like, "But I can't find it. I need help."

Rich Bennett 59:35
"Well, we knew that."

Kayla Deickman 59:36
"Oh." "I'm

Rich Bennett 59:38
just saying. I mean, that-that-that you need help finding it because

Taryn Womack 59:41
you can't find it."

Kayla Deickman 59:42
"No."

Taryn Womack 59:42
"I'm like,

Kayla Deickman 59:43
help." "Okay.

Taryn Womack 59:43
"You need

Kayla Deickman 59:44
I need-I need help."

Taryn Womack 59:45
[laughs]

Kayla Deickman 59:47
just feed

Taryn Womack 59:47
"We

Kayla Deickman 59:47
each other's delusions. That's-that's what friendship is."

Taryn Womack 59:51
"Okay." "Yeah."

Kayla Deickman 59:52
"Feeting the delusions."

Rich Bennett 59:54
"All

Taryn Womack 59:54
there." "So

Rich Bennett 59:54
right, so

Taryn Womack 59:55
with the

Rich Bennett 59:55
we have a book

Taryn Womack 59:55
book

Rich Bennett 59:55
down

Taryn Womack 59:55
down in Donut's room?" "Yes."

Rich Bennett 59:57
"Age

Taryn Womack 59:57
Can I look at

Rich Bennett 59:57
can.

Taryn Womack 59:57
it for a reason?" "Um, would say, like, there is a little bit of cursing and they're not as much as I think." "I

Kayla Deickman 1:00:05
I have-I

Taryn Womack 1:00:05
have no idea. Um, uh, not as much as I usually put in, like, some of the stuff now. But, um, I would say, maybe, like, 13, 14 it up."

Rich Bennett 1:00:14
"All right, what's the worst-the worst curse word?"

Taryn Womack 1:00:16
"Oh, probably the half word in there once or twice. Um, I tried to keep it pretty." "Well,

Rich Bennett 1:00:22
if you're scared, it's how you're going to say that." "Mm-hmm."

Taryn Womack 1:00:24
"Um, I think I tried to keep it pretty PG-13, at least." "I-I

Kayla Deickman 1:00:29
let-I let my kid read it, if she was interested in it."

Taryn Womack 1:00:32
"Yeah." "Not, like, um, it's not, like, terrifying. Like, there are some stories in there that are creepy,

Rich Bennett 1:00:39
definitely,

Taryn Womack 1:00:40
but

Rich Bennett 1:00:40
definitely creepy,

Taryn Womack 1:00:40
it's not something that I think will keep people up at night, so I think it is good for, like, a younger audience as well, for-especially people who are getting into horror.

Kayla Deickman 1:00:48
"Can't-can't-fire

Rich Bennett 1:00:48
"And-?"

Kayla Deickman 1:00:49
stories, friends."

Taryn Womack 1:00:50
"Mm-hmm."

Rich Bennett 1:00:50
"Well, and where do you see most of-most books like this, the books with ghost stories? Where do you

Kayla Deickman 1:00:55
of-?"

Rich Bennett 1:00:55
see

Kayla Deickman 1:00:55
"Sleep

Rich Bennett 1:00:56
most

Kayla Deickman 1:00:56
of those."

Rich Bennett 1:00:57
"No, store-wise."

Kayla Deickman 1:00:59
"Oh."

Rich Bennett 1:01:00
"The gift shops in a lot of

Taryn Womack 1:01:02
"Yeah."

Rich Bennett 1:01:02
his-?"

Kayla Deickman 1:01:03
"Yeah." "Yeah, I could-

Rich Bennett 1:01:04
like, like-" "And

Taryn Womack 1:01:04
like,

Rich Bennett 1:01:04
Hartford-Caa- Maryland's got a lot of them."

Taryn Womack 1:01:06
"Mm-hmm."

Rich Bennett 1:01:07
"And..."

Kayla Deickman 1:01:08
"I don't travel a lot, so I'm not."

Taryn Womack 1:01:10
"There's

Rich Bennett 1:01:12
a lot of them right

Taryn Womack 1:01:13
"The

Rich Bennett 1:01:13
here."

Taryn Womack 1:01:14
Hartford-"

Rich Bennett 1:01:14
"For-Caa-N-E-K-L-E."

Kayla Deickman 1:01:15
I know, but I don't even travel in

Taryn Womack 1:01:17
"There's-

Kayla Deickman 1:01:17
the county, so-"

Taryn Womack 1:01:18
"A lot from- from Gettysburg, like, a lot of the short-horse stories, like, based off of actual, like, sightings and hauntings that are from up there." "Um, and that's actually something that I would love to do, is like, some, like, local horror stories are, like, local sightings, and,

Rich Bennett 1:01:34
"Yeah."

Taryn Womack 1:01:34
like, making them into stories."

Kayla Deickman 1:01:36
"You could do, like, a- like a creepy story about Chessie."

Taryn Womack 1:01:41
"Chessie." "I

Kayla Deickman 1:01:42
love that."

Taryn Womack 1:01:43
"Chessie, what is- is a goat man, is a Maryland?"

Rich Bennett 1:01:46
Yeah,

Kayla Deickman 1:01:47
yeah, I think that one

Taryn Womack 1:01:47
a black Mary. Um,

Rich Bennett 1:01:50
oh, black Aggie back

Taryn Womack 1:01:52
black Aggie. That's what it is. Um, there's, uh, there's a place in Baltimore.

Kayla Deickman 1:01:58
I don't that's not a Maryland thing of it.

Taryn Womack 1:02:00
No.

Rich Bennett 1:02:01
Uh, supposedly they've been sightings around here.

Taryn Womack 1:02:05
Um, I forget where it is, but my friend was telling me about a place in Baltimore where there used to be. I think it was a black church that got black. Uh, you'll burn down, and if you go there, you'll, and like you stick around like you'll smell, like burning flesh.

Rich Bennett 1:02:21
Oh, God, I hate

Taryn Womack 1:02:22
this. Um, and like you'll hear the people screaming and stuff like that. So I got to remember where that is.

Kayla Deickman 1:02:28
Uh, I'm aware

Rich Bennett 1:02:28
my Marine Corps hat. Never mind.

Kayla Deickman 1:02:30
Okay. Yeah. Awesome, like my daughter is the cap

Rich Bennett 1:02:34
your way. My birth day, father's day present.

Kayla Deickman 1:02:37
Um, okay. Okay. That's, that's a good one.

Rich Bennett 1:02:41
Awesome. Like my daughter.

Taryn Womack 1:02:42
Aha.

Rich Bennett 1:02:42
He's also too.

Kayla Deickman 1:02:43
Mancher.

Rich Bennett 1:02:46
Yeah.

Kayla Deickman 1:02:48
I could see these at like just a

Rich Bennett 1:02:50
the,

Kayla Deickman 1:02:50
lot of like

Rich Bennett 1:02:51
I guess,

Kayla Deickman 1:02:51
little, you should sell them at the National Plex and stuff to where people come.

Taryn Womack 1:02:55
So

Rich Bennett 1:02:56
that's what I'm thinking. Yeah, the parks, wherever you

Taryn Womack 1:02:59
are.

Rich Bennett 1:03:00
Um, what parks? Do we have, you have subscribed to the park? Did they give shop there?

Kayla Deickman 1:03:06
Um,

Rich Bennett 1:03:08
you,

Kayla Deickman 1:03:09
you could sell little,

Taryn Womack 1:03:10
um,

Kayla Deickman 1:03:11
do little, uh, packages on your website that include like, um, like a little flashlight and. A little horror box that can't fire bundle.

Taryn Womack 1:03:22
Hey, there's

Kayla Deickman 1:03:23
a good

Rich Bennett 1:03:25
idea,

Taryn Womack 1:03:25
gotta find some Appalachian statewide parks, because they're one of the stories that can't be one is Appalachian. So I think that'd be interesting.

Rich Bennett 1:03:35
I'm gonna put you in contact

Taryn Womack 1:03:37
or

Rich Bennett 1:03:38
you're probably too busy to

Taryn Womack 1:03:39
I can.

Rich Bennett 1:03:39
contact.

Taryn Womack 1:03:39
I,

Rich Bennett 1:03:39
I'll

Taryn Womack 1:03:40
I

Rich Bennett 1:03:40
see

Taryn Womack 1:03:40
can

Rich Bennett 1:03:40
what

Taryn Womack 1:03:41
contact, I can contact people. I just, um, I work in retail so my schedule can be a little crazy. But I can always get back to people.

Rich Bennett 1:03:48
Crazy schedule? No.

Kayla Deickman 1:03:52
I've seen her far less than she started this job than ever.

Taryn Womack 1:03:56
Well, I primarily work closing

Rich Bennett 1:03:57
only

Taryn Womack 1:03:57
shifts

Rich Bennett 1:03:58
because she doesn't want to see you.

Kayla Deickman 1:03:59
I know.

Rich Bennett 1:04:00
Her

Kayla Deickman 1:04:01
actively

Rich Bennett 1:04:01
me.

Kayla Deickman 1:04:01
avoiding

Rich Bennett 1:04:03
All right, so, wait a

Taryn Womack 1:04:05
minute,

Rich Bennett 1:04:05
got

Taryn Womack 1:04:05
he's

Rich Bennett 1:04:06
any questions

Kayla Deickman 1:04:09
for us. Um, where does your sanity sit

Taryn Womack 1:04:15
on the top show? Far away.

Kayla Deickman 1:04:17
Okay.

Taryn Womack 1:04:17
I reach it.

Kayla Deickman 1:04:18
Um, one or the next one is the next time we will see each other outside of work.

Taryn Womack 1:04:24
Um, let me check back.

Rich Bennett 1:04:27
Will you be keeping, I was gonna see. Keep it busy too.

Taryn Womack 1:04:31
Yeah, you were, yeah. But honestly, she's home most of the time during the,

Kayla Deickman 1:04:34
uh-huh, and she works five minutes from me.

Taryn Womack 1:04:37
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 1:04:37
well,

Kayla Deickman 1:04:38
So I

Rich Bennett 1:04:38
didn't

Kayla Deickman 1:04:39
think our

Rich Bennett 1:04:39
time

Kayla Deickman 1:04:39
hard

Rich Bennett 1:04:39
didn't need to get off your ass and go see her

Kayla Deickman 1:04:41
all the time. I've been in the, I've been at the story like probably

Taryn Womack 1:04:45
than the

Kayla Deickman 1:04:45
a little bit more

Taryn Womack 1:04:46
problem with the hanging out thing is I primarily work closing shifts, which is like 2.30 to like 10.30. So like,

Kayla Deickman 1:04:53
it's just a

Rich Bennett 1:04:54
Yeah,

Kayla Deickman 1:04:54
wacky schedule.

Taryn Womack 1:04:56
There are

Rich Bennett 1:04:57
how many times have you seen Kayla?

Taryn Womack 1:05:02
Weight.

Rich Bennett 1:05:04
Okay. You know how many times I've seen her within a

Kayla Deickman 1:05:06
period?

Rich Bennett 1:05:07
Twice. Just saying.

Kayla Deickman 1:05:10
Well, now that all of my children are in school and

Rich Bennett 1:05:14
it's it's summertime. Where are they in

Kayla Deickman 1:05:16
Well,

Rich Bennett 1:05:16
school?

Kayla Deickman 1:05:16
next school year.

Rich Bennett 1:05:18
Okay.

Kayla Deickman 1:05:18
I will have a lot more free time to be able to do podcasts with you, Rich.

Rich Bennett 1:05:23
That's a scare.

Kayla Deickman 1:05:25
I

Rich Bennett 1:05:26
have.

Kayla Deickman 1:05:27
I

Rich Bennett 1:05:27
I have.

Kayla Deickman 1:05:28
have been and

Taryn Womack 1:05:28
I have.

Kayla Deickman 1:05:28
don't forget we still need to work on a children's book for you, Rich.

Rich Bennett 1:05:33
For me.

Kayla Deickman 1:05:34
We need to do one about many podcasters so that we can

Rich Bennett 1:05:38
pot.

Kayla Deickman 1:05:38
raise a little

Rich Bennett 1:05:39
Are you? He's damn baby. Tick tox of these people doing podcasts too much.

Kayla Deickman 1:05:47
Oh, and he also still me.

Rich Bennett 1:05:49
I need a.

Kayla Deickman 1:05:50
Friends. He did. Yeah, I can do a Christmas before you. Friends. The last time I

Taryn Womack 1:05:55
but

Kayla Deickman 1:05:55
was at a pe.. he

Taryn Womack 1:05:57
said the next time

Kayla Deickman 1:05:58
I was on the podcast. He'd let me paint his head like a fried egg. I know it's somewhere in

Rich Bennett 1:06:04
I.

Kayla Deickman 1:06:05
the comments.

Rich Bennett 1:06:05
Sublim.

Kayla Deickman 1:06:05
I know somewhere in the comments section of

Rich Bennett 1:06:08
face.

Kayla Deickman 1:06:08
his

Rich Bennett 1:06:08
I said, but I can't this is those of you listening to

Taryn Womack 1:06:12
this is.

Rich Bennett 1:06:12
I second. We're recording this. So I can't this week because of what if it doesn't come off? I got the fourth of July

Taryn Womack 1:06:19
do.

Rich Bennett 1:06:19
parade. I got

Taryn Womack 1:06:20
He

Rich Bennett 1:06:20
to

Taryn Womack 1:06:20
comes off with soap and water.

Kayla Deickman 1:06:24
So one of these days. probably have stuff in my car.

Rich Bennett 1:06:29
I Point man.

Kayla Deickman 1:06:31
See? See, he just avoided. It was one podcast. Um, we'll take some videos of me painting his head like a fried egg. a f*****! And we'll post him

Rich Bennett 1:06:41
Pain

Kayla Deickman 1:06:41
all over.

Rich Bennett 1:06:42
Ego my head.

Kayla Deickman 1:06:43
Because it's perfect to paint a fried egg on.

Rich Bennett 1:06:46
Why is that?

Taryn Womack 1:06:48
What are you

Rich Bennett 1:06:48
What are

Taryn Womack 1:06:48
trying

Rich Bennett 1:06:48
you trying

Taryn Womack 1:06:48
to

Rich Bennett 1:06:48
to say?

Taryn Womack 1:06:49
say?

Kayla Deickman 1:06:49
The lack of hair, Rich.

Rich Bennett 1:06:51
Do you know why? Because I'm so smart. I pushed all

Kayla Deickman 1:06:54
hands.

Rich Bennett 1:06:54
my

Kayla Deickman 1:06:54
Uh-huh. Well, and that's why the fried egg will

Rich Bennett 1:06:58
sizzle. I

Taryn Womack 1:06:59
can't. I can't, I don't know where that

Kayla Deickman 1:07:00
is.

Rich Bennett 1:07:01
I can't, I can't have, you know, the sun and s**t. thing.

Taryn Womack 1:07:05
Alright

Rich Bennett 1:07:05
Alright, so Terran, what's the next

Taryn Womack 1:07:06
s**t,

Rich Bennett 1:07:07
big

Taryn Womack 1:07:07
big

Rich Bennett 1:07:07
thing for Terran Woomack?

Taryn Womack 1:07:09
Um, I'm not quite sure yet. I'm working on a couple different things. Um, I'm currently almost done with the first draft of one of my novels, which is going to be a romanticine novel. Um,

Kayla Deickman 1:07:24
that's another genre,

Rich Bennett 1:07:25
yes, I know.

Taryn Womack 1:07:26
That one's like the most popular one. Um, but I have a few other ones, the antique store book. That's

Kayla Deickman 1:07:34
the one that I really wanna.

Taryn Womack 1:07:35
Um, that one that makes I just start doing, like I said, is really hard to come up with some of those stories. Like I have the background of what the items are gonna be, but I can just writing it out. Sure stories are hard for me, surprisingly. Um, I'm a very,

Rich Bennett 1:07:50
novels are easier,

Taryn Womack 1:07:51
N novels are easier. I'm a deep, I'm a detailed person.

Rich Bennett 1:07:54
okay?

Taryn Womack 1:07:54
Um, but, uh, there's that, um, I got a few other stuff coming up, and I'm gonna actually try to start posting a lot more on my website on, um, my,

Kayla Deickman 1:08:06
do you have a social media

Taryn Womack 1:08:08
hmm. I

Kayla Deickman 1:08:08
page?

Taryn Womack 1:08:08
do. It's the same, uh, Terran wo Mac books is my Facebook page. Um, I'm gonna try posting stuff on there as well,

Rich Bennett 1:08:15
Mm

Taryn Womack 1:08:16
for some more stuff. So...

Rich Bennett 1:08:17
All right. Now do you like writing better or editing

Taryn Womack 1:08:22
better? I like, honestly, editing better,

Rich Bennett 1:08:27
okay.

Taryn Womack 1:08:28
'Cause writing is hard, writing, especially if, um, you get overwhelmed a lot easily, like I do. Um, like there are times when I can go on a week-long, uh, run of just writing, writing, writing, writing, and I can get probably like 15 chapters done, um, doing that. And then, I'm just done. I can't write anymore because I block. Um, but with editing, it's like, "Okay, I can go in and do it

Kayla Deickman 1:08:58
and

Taryn Womack 1:08:58
and

Kayla Deickman 1:08:58
do

Taryn Womack 1:08:58
do

Kayla Deickman 1:08:58
it." How

Taryn Womack 1:08:58
it

Kayla Deickman 1:08:58
many drafts do you typically do?

Taryn Womack 1:09:00
Um, for this, for the doubt of dark road, I think I did two drafts, um, just because they are shorter. And, um, two or three, I think, 'cause I did the first draft, and then I went back, I did my edits,

Kayla Deickman 1:09:15
uh,

Taryn Womack 1:09:16
and then I had, um, a couple people read it, and then I did a couple more edits. So, yeah, three drafts.

Kayla Deickman 1:09:20
Okay.

Taryn Womack 1:09:21
Um, but with like a novel, I'll probably do a couple more. Um,

Kayla Deickman 1:09:25
you think eight to magic

Taryn Womack 1:09:26
number? Oh, God, that's probably too much. We'll see, like, we'll see exactly like how far it goes. So, like, once I finished with the first one, I'll just--

Rich Bennett 1:09:34
School house rocks in my head now.

Taryn Womack 1:09:39
Um, I'll go back. I'll do my first rewrite. And then I'll probably send it to you, and like another friend. Maybe, like, I'll actually pay a beta reader, um, to look at it, get outside perspective. Um, once they come back with that, we'll do another rewrite, and then I'll send it to an editor, and then I'll come back and do another rewrite.

Rich Bennett 1:09:59
fine.

Kayla Deickman 1:09:59
So, fine,

Rich Bennett 1:09:59
So, have you thought about starting your own business,

Taryn Womack 1:10:03
since

Rich Bennett 1:10:03
you've added it, Kayla's?

Taryn Womack 1:10:05
I have, like, I've gone on to like, um, on the website Fiber. Yeah, I went on to Fiber a little bit for a couple things. Um, the problem with that is I don't-- because it's not, like, my main source, and I have other stuff that I got to do. I don't have time to do, like, the big edits, because there's mostly a time limit.

Rich Bennett 1:10:27
write,

Taryn Womack 1:10:27
Um, so it's just-- it's-- like, I can do, like, smaller stuff. Like, I-- um, I have, like, a couple of gigs on there, or I used to, where I just like, I did essays, um, or, like, uh,

Rich Bennett 1:10:42
books,

Taryn Womack 1:10:44
children's books, um, um,

Kayla Deickman 1:10:46
um, and yes, friends, children's books that normally have under 500 words do need editing.

Taryn Womack 1:10:51
Especially when you're dyslexic.

Kayla Deickman 1:10:53
Thanks.

Taryn Womack 1:10:55
Um, transcripts have done transcripts before, um, but yeah, like, smaller stuff. I would really love to do bigger stuff, like, books and stuff like that, because it just-- it feels nice. It feels good to like, see all the changes happen, and like, the words start to flow together a little bit better.

Kayla Deickman 1:11:14
So if you've ever thought about writing that first book, you guys should write that first book and send it to her for editing.

Taryn Womack 1:11:20
I will say, like, if you are someone who likes the idea of writing, but you don't know what to do or like, you're worried that it's going to suck, the first draft always sucks.

Rich Bennett 1:11:29
Yeah.

Taryn Womack 1:11:29
Like even for the most professional writers, the first draft always sucks. There was actually a part of my textbook in college was titled The Shitty First Draft.

Because your first draft is always going to be crappy. Because your first draft is putting everything down, all of your thoughts, all of your potentials basically. And you can go in, sometimes what I'll do is I'll go in, I'll write a scene and I'll be like, I don't know if I really like all that, so I'll write the same scene, but in a different way, just a page below.

Rich Bennett 1:12:04
And

Taryn Womack 1:12:05
that is my first draft. And I'll go back and I'll see which one I like more. If I don't like either, I'll write it again. But like it's always going to suck the first time. And then you go back and you'll read it, and you'll see what you like, you don't like, and you can fix it, and it does take a lot of work, and that's why a lot of people don't like to do it.

But if writing is something that you really, really like to do, even if it's just small stuff, like short stories, or if you like to write essays for fun, because there are people who do that, or poetry, like getting the words out is the first step, and that's honestly the hardest step sometimes. So every time someone's like, oh I really want to write, but like I have ideas, but I don't really know how to get it out. That's what you just got to get it out. Do the first draft, write down what you think, and honestly half the time it's going to flow. Like once you get into it, it's going to flow. And you'll go on for a couple hours and you're just writing and writing and you'll get to a point you didn't even realize you were going to get to. And

Kayla Deickman 1:13:14
that goes with any genre, Yeah. Like Seriously,

Rich Bennett 1:13:18
so the reason you're not doing your

Taryn Womack 1:13:21
businesses because

Rich Bennett 1:13:22
your regular job is just too many.

Taryn Womack 1:13:25
Yeah, yeah, like it's 40 hours, but because of like the hour times, like I said, I'm primarily working closing shifts. So

Rich Bennett 1:13:33
by the time you get home, you're dragging.

Taryn Womack 1:13:35
Yeah, I usually get home like 10, 11 o'clock, and because I don't sleep well in general. I'm not waking up until like 10, 11 o'clock in the morning, so I only have a few hours during the day to actually like get something done.

Rich Bennett 1:13:52
yeah,

Taryn Womack 1:13:52
And it tends to be there like chores or if it's been like a particularly long week, I'll just kind of just do nothing.

And like I said, there are sometimes like I just legitimately cannot write. Like nothing comes to mind. Nothing is

Kayla Deickman 1:14:10
blocks are normal people.

Taryn Womack 1:14:11
Yeah, blocks, blocks are very... I've had like year-long blocks, so it sucks. Because like as much as I want to write, I legitimately can't think of anything. And it hurts sometimes because I'm like it's my favorite thing. I want to do it. I want to the story done. Nothing's coming out. And it's even worse when I get to this point. Because like right now I probably have maybe like five or six more chapters that I need to get done for this current book that I'm writing. And I'm at a point where I'm like it's the transition point and I can't figure out how to transition. And it's driving me crazy. it's just the worst.

Rich Bennett 1:14:55
See, I actually do you belong to a writer's group?

Taryn Womack 1:15:00
No. I've like talked to a couple people about it.

Rich Bennett 1:15:04
Okay. I don't

Kayla Deickman 1:15:05
know what you're talking about either.

Rich Bennett 1:15:06
All right, so you have

Taryn Womack 1:15:07
he

Rich Bennett 1:15:07
Hartford right.

Taryn Womack 1:15:07
writes. That's

Rich Bennett 1:15:08
That's when

Taryn Womack 1:15:08
when

you have

Rich Bennett 1:15:15
two more

Taryn Womack 1:15:16
chapters in a book. What you do is when you go in there,

Rich Bennett 1:15:19
you pull like a certain chapter or whatever out of a book that you work in

Taryn Womack 1:15:23
and

Rich Bennett 1:15:24
everybody

Taryn Womack 1:15:24
reads it next

Rich Bennett 1:15:26
meeting, I guess, and

Taryn Womack 1:15:27
then they put

Rich Bennett 1:15:28
the ticket. But they also look for editors as well. And so and illustrators. Yeah. Hartford writers group. You never heard

Kayla Deickman 1:15:38
of that? I've heard of the Hartford writers.

Taryn Womack 1:15:40
All

Rich Bennett 1:15:41
right, I'm going to have to send you both the links.

Kayla Deickman 1:15:43
Yeah, please do.

Rich Bennett 1:15:44
Yeah, I've had them all. They got a lot of different.

Kayla Deickman 1:15:47
Okay.

Rich Bennett 1:15:47
You know Debbie Jennings?

Kayla Deickman 1:15:48
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I love her. Hey, maybe I am part of a group.

Taryn Womack 1:15:55
I mean, you have your own group of

Kayla Deickman 1:15:57
like, yeah, I am part of like our immediate children's author, like little group.

Rich Bennett 1:16:02
Actually, I just, there's

Taryn Womack 1:16:04
I

Rich Bennett 1:16:04
some.

started a children's authors writing group and illustrator group.

Kayla Deickman 1:16:10
Who?

Rich Bennett 1:16:11
I forget, I have to look, I don't think

Taryn Womack 1:16:13
she's ready.

Kayla Deickman 1:16:14
So

Rich Bennett 1:16:17
Virtual, virtual,

Kayla Deickman 1:16:19
virtual. Well, you, yeah. I do.

Rich Bennett 1:16:23
I tell everybody the website against it, they can go by your

Taryn Womack 1:16:26
books. Um, it's tarrenwomech, books. They're not

Rich Bennett 1:16:29
ARYN.

Taryn Womack 1:16:31
Yes. And then WOMACK, books. bigcartel.com And I'm going to, some people don't understand

Rich Bennett 1:16:41
Tell

Taryn Womack 1:16:41
something.

Rich Bennett 1:16:42
with a C.

Kayla Deickman 1:16:42
Yes.

Rich Bennett 1:16:43
Alright, so y'all listen, you know what I'm going to

Taryn Womack 1:16:47
First,

Rich Bennett 1:16:48
say.

Taryn Womack 1:16:48
after you read it, you

Rich Bennett 1:16:50
can

Taryn Womack 1:16:52
see that

Rich Bennett 1:16:52
wherever you can leave

Taryn Womack 1:16:53
reviews,

Rich Bennett 1:16:54
if you like it that buy

Taryn Womack 1:16:55
copies, buy several

Rich Bennett 1:16:56
more

Taryn Womack 1:16:57
more copies.

Rich Bennett 1:16:58
And pass them along. I mean, anybody news?

Kayla Deickman 1:17:02
Yeah.

Rich Bennett 1:17:03
What, do

Kayla Deickman 1:17:03
I

Rich Bennett 1:17:04
you?

Kayla Deickman 1:17:05
have my own personal sign copy. Remember to read it forward. That's the phrase that I've been using a lot more.

Rich Bennett 1:17:13
Read the forward,

Kayla Deickman 1:17:14
read it forward. I did a thing with a bunch of children's author's called read it

Rich Bennett 1:17:18
What

Kayla Deickman 1:17:18
forward.

Rich Bennett 1:17:18
is

Taryn Womack 1:17:19
that?

Kayla Deickman 1:17:19
It was like this little thing that we did to essentially give books to children,

Rich Bennett 1:17:26
Oh.

Kayla Deickman 1:17:26
um, with the epicenter. And then we gave these books out with the goal that they read it for. So giving the books to somebody else when they were done reading it.

Rich Bennett 1:17:35
Oh, no, no,

Kayla Deickman 1:17:36
no, no,

Rich Bennett 1:17:38
no, no, no, no, no. I like that. Say the same thing. When you're done reading it. Pass it on.

Kayla Deickman 1:17:43
Yeah. No,

Rich Bennett 1:17:44
buy it for somebody.

Kayla Deickman 1:17:45
Yeah, and pass it along. I

Taryn Womack 1:17:50
thought

Rich Bennett 1:17:50
you meant buy it. And after you done

Kayla Deickman 1:17:52
it.

Rich Bennett 1:17:52
reading

Kayla Deickman 1:17:53
Well, yeah, I do it in a little adjacent way.

Taryn Womack 1:17:56
Sure. We

Rich Bennett 1:17:57
even novels. People

Taryn Womack 1:17:58
read

Rich Bennett 1:17:59
and

Taryn Womack 1:17:59
over

Rich Bennett 1:17:59
over again.

Kayla Deickman 1:18:00
And make sure when you buy them, preferably buy them directly from her.

Rich Bennett 1:18:05
Yeah. Well, that's all I had her give

Taryn Womack 1:18:07
them.

Kayla Deickman 1:18:08
know. But that,

Rich Bennett 1:18:09
I

Kayla Deickman 1:18:09
you know,

Rich Bennett 1:18:11
books. That big cartel dot com.

Taryn Womack 1:18:12
right?

Rich Bennett 1:18:12
That get it

Taryn Womack 1:18:13
Yes.

Because I only get like a few cents if you buy it from like Amazon or Barnes and Nobles,

Rich Bennett 1:18:24
whereas I'll get

Taryn Womack 1:18:25

Kayla Deickman 1:18:29

Taryn Womack 1:18:29

Kayla Deickman 1:18:30

Taryn Womack 1:18:30
you're local, um, you can actually pick it up instead of paying for shipping. Um, which makes it a little easier for some people, because I think it's like $4 for shipping.

Rich Bennett 1:18:40
And if you get the audible version, you get all these people together. Is it on Kindle?

Taryn Womack 1:18:46
Two. Uh, yes. It is the, it is also an audiobook, but it's the same kind of thing where

Rich Bennett 1:18:51
it is on audio book already.

Taryn Womack 1:18:52
It's in a, do I say audiobook?

Kayla Deickman 1:18:54
You said an audio book.

Taryn Womack 1:18:55
My bad. I'm an ebook. It's ebook. Okay.

Rich Bennett 1:18:58
Okay. Not yet.

Taryn Womack 1:19:00

Taryn Womack 1:19:46

Rich Bennett 1:19:50
I

Taryn Womack 1:19:50
